No, actually the atheist public school teachers molested MILLIONS, not hundreds. And they have not reformed even today. In fact the problem has gotten worse. It is very easy for a pedo teacher to find employment in another atheist public school. Happens all the time.

I was a reporter when the story broke about the Catholic Church. Naturally, I looked into the statistics. Some interesting information came out. Pedophilia was society's dirty little secret and most of it was covered up in families because families is where it most often occurred. The psychiatric community did its own research and thought they had come up with a solution for child abuse occurring in institutions...churches, schools, hospitals, children's clubs/groups etc. Send offenders off to their psychiatric rehab seminars, place them in a new environment, and offenders would be cured.

The Catholic Church kept reporting back to the psychiatric community, "This is not working, this is not working, this is not working..." which annoyed the psychiatrists. Of course, the biggest offenders were found in school districts. Moving priests around wasn't working; moving hospital staff around was not working; moving teachers around certainly wasn't working.

Kind of interesting that the group blowing the whistle on the psychiatric community had the whistle blown on them. I am certain I was not the only reporter who went to the editor with this information. Don't know what the others were told, but I was told focusing on the Catholic Church was where the big bucks were. The Catholic Church could afford lawsuits; taxpayer funded school districts not so much. Besides, blowing the whistle on teachers would panic everyone. Make the Catholic Church the scapegoat.

Then, as has always been the case, that as a group, the Catholic priesthood has/had the lowest percentage of offenders. This does not mean that some Catholic diocese did not deserve to be slapped silly. No doubt, some still do. However, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops began working tirelessly to get these dioceses straightened out. Parishioner in Catholic parishes were also working so that priest and children put on robes (over clothes) were still assigned different places to don their robes. In fact, after a decade or so, the Catholic Church became the guideline that helped other agencies to set up similar programs.

Meanwhile, the psychiatric community finally issued the word that pedophilia could not be cured. Probably missed all the funds raised from their previous "seminars" but better than having the word get out it was the psychiatrists who had recommended clergy and teachers be moved to a different location as part of their "cure".

You fail to understand the difference between numbers and trends and statistics. As a population grows, it is normal for every segment of that population to frow in raw numbers as well. To measure real growth of any segment, we deal in either percentage of the population or in number per 100,000. Both relate the same thing, x/100,000 is slightly more granular. If your % does not grow at the same rate as the overall population, you are shrinking. That %, your market share so to speak, is what determines influence. A politician will not care how many Catholic there are, they will care about what is their share of the population and whether that is growing or not. Raw numbers may be increasing but influence especially on policy and who should be catered to is shrinking.

Part of the millions you say were spent was in defending priests falsely accused when all priests were fair game. Another part was in defending against astronomical claims. The Church, itself, meanwhile, was making restitution for legitimate wrongs.

Here is another point: If it took the Catholic Church spending millions to wake up society about the number of pedophiles in alive and well in society, I believe it was money worth being spent. Don't make it a waste by closing your eyes to the more widespread abuse in other groups, agencies, and communities.
