Whether a sitting president or candidate visits a disaster it's not terribly important. What is important is that those in the area have the help they need. Because we thankfully have a real president the last 8 years, FEMA and other agencies are actually helpful and provided much more aid than a campaign stop.

Trump is pandering, nothing more. You could say that Obama was pandering when he visited the aftermath of Sandy, at least federal aid wasn't a clusterfuck and that's what counts.

You know, I find it really interesting that the GOP is screaming at Obama to go to LA and check out the flood because if he doesn't, he's abandoning the people of LA.

Got news for all you RWNJ's, the governor of LA made an announcement when the disaster happened that he didn't want Obama to come by for at least a week, because he didn't want all the rescue and security people to be diverted to the president's detail.

He's also warned Trump to not use this as a photo op (which he already is).

A La mayor said he was glad Trump came but that 'he could have sent a post card and it would have been more than the President has done'. The image ... those words ... of that on tv was politically embarassing...it shamed Barry.

Barry wasn't going to La before Trump did this. People had been busting his ass for days, so if the trip had been planned the media would have come to his defense already.

No, Trump forced his hand, as you admitted, or he would definitely be seen as not giving a damn...which he doesn't. If he did he wouldn't have waited until he was forced to do so.

No word from Hillary, but I am sure she will announce a trip planned to tour the flooded area that was scheduled before La even started to flood.
