My experience with career military officers was that they weren't honorable men, but ticket punchers out to further their careers at all costs. That applies to majors (0-4) and above. Company grade officers were generally good men who looked out for their troops. I think once promoted to major an officer looked at how hard it would be to get promoted to Lt. Colonel and careerism took over. The last person I would listen to would be a retired O-5 or above.
