We Have No Business in Syria

While what happened to those people in Syria is tragic, it is not our fight and never has been. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say our military is to be used as the guardian of the planet and a lot of people in this country are getting sick of it. Aside from Afghanistan, we haven't fought one war in the defense of our nation since WWII. Every other war we have entered into has been a choice to fight someone else's and countless lives have been lost over the years.

Furthermore, we have been interfering in the affairs of the Middle East for over 70 years and all we've done is make things worse. We are responsible for the rise of Khomeini in Iran. We are responsible for the existence of ISIS in Iraq and we will be responsible for which ever radical Muslim extremist takes over Syria if we depose Assad. These people have been slaughtering each other for 5,000 years and we aren't going to change it. All we have had done is made ourselves a terrorist target and watched our civil liberties and Constitutional rights erode as a result.
Do they pay you much to moderate here?

That depends on whether you believe that morality is restricted to those who immediately effect you.
The US military does not exist to inflict morality on the world. It exists to defend the American people from aggression. Woodrow Wilson destroyed its purpose when he made the deal to enter America on the side of Great Britain in WWI.

Then the US Military has not been fulfilling their purpose since at least the Korean War

Attacking Afghanistan wasn't a defensive war. Afghans never attacked us. It's like attacking Italy because the Mafia import drugs into the US.
You ever hear of the Twin Towers?
AQ was housed and operating out of Afghanistan.
1. Most of the 9/11 highjackers were from Saudi Arabia and trained in the US.
2. Invading Afghanistan to get at Sammy Laden Jr and his buddies is like invading Italy to get at the head of the mafia. A really dumb idea.

At least.

You want to know WHY Syria was targeted?

We are not "in" Syria.

We merely did a Missile "drive by".

Reread his post. He said "aside from Afghanistan".
One can make a strong argument that Afghan was a waste too. We are still there 16 years after 9/12. WTF. Why? Bin laden and his kooky followers were responsible not the entire nation of Afghanistan.
It's the only military action that can even remotely be termed "defensive", as per the OP.

Not even close.
i know, I live far away from there.

Once folks calm down and begin using common sense, they'll quickly realize this is a False Flag ruse. Why would Assad order a Chemical Weapons attack now?

Simple. He wanted his citizens to know that he COULD and no one would do a darn thing to help them.

I find it hilarious that Americans know the least amount about their own wars than everybody else in the word. There was nothing defensive about Afghanistan. The Taliban did not attack the United States. They were believed to be harboring Osama Bin Laden, so instead of launching special forces raids and surgical strikes to kill him, they invaded the country. Ironically Osama bin Laden was later found in Pakistan.

Not sure what is so damn funny about your post. It's just an objective fact that the Taliban have never carried out an attack on US soil.

Just curious Dont Taz Me Bro

The same argument could have been made against Nazi Germany.

Would you agree that we should never have fought the Nazis?

Syria is a no win situation. Take out ISIS, you strengthen Assad. Take out Assad and you strengthen ISIS. Either way the Syrian people are fucked. We should stay away from this tar baby.

We often forget that the Free Syrian brigades and Syrian Islamic Front are both non-extremist factions fighting in the civil war. They were gaining ground before the Russians intervened.

While I agree I'm not sold on this being a Syria thing. I think it was a show thee world thing. Given it was horrific what they did but this was a signal to the Norks, Iran etc. We soft targeted this one but we have the reach and the technology so you better be careful.

Desperate enough to make things worse for himself?

That makes no sense.

Of course, it makes sense.

IF, as you say he is winning, using a forbidden Sarin gas attack makes perfect sense. How better to convince your citizens that, in the future, if they rise up again, he can use chemical weapons on them and no one will care or object.
