When a candidate says we need to cut out all those wasteful entitlement programs, there's wide support but when he suggests we cutout Medicaid, that support disappears as voters become concerned as to how their neighbor or family member will be able to afford their medicine.

Under Ryan's plan Medicade goes back to the states where it belongs.

Without federal support the states would loose about 50% of their Medicaid funding which would mean about half the people on Medicaid would have no healthcare. Hospital emergency rooms would be saddled with treating the poor. That's no solution.
