With people working two jobs and many couples both working two jobs ... those who work for low wages don't make enough to keep a roof over their heads and the family fed and clothed and put money away too.
It just can't be done.
And when they do try to put a little aside .... just about that time the car breaks down or a kid breaks their arm or something and they are right back in the hole again.
That is another good thing that unions do.
