Clearly all the gloom and doom of the world collapsing has been spewed for weeks. Now that, that strategy to force the gop to cave didnt work and the reality is less than 24 hours away what is the left going to say?

The left tried to make this look like the end of everything in order to make the GOP's position of cuts look unreasonable. Now that the reality is about to hit us what will the spin be?

Yeah, sure. The left wants to look bad. That's why the Rs have refused a real meeting and have said their 60 second running into the potus after the unveiling of the Rosa Parks statue was the "meeting" and now plan to leave town on yet another vacation tomorrow.

Did anyone see that photo? McConnell and Boehner looking like a pair of small dogs, squaring off against the Big Dog. Stupid.

The Rs are being blamed for refusing to even consider Obama's cuts.

Wut? Does not compute.....

EVERYONE is hoping for negative impacts.
And every bureaucrat will be working to make the impact as large as possible in order to try to justify their own bloated budgets. The both sides will fall all over themselves trying to blame the other side of the aisle for the negative impacts.

This is NOT a right or left issue.

Making it a partisan issue simply plays into their hands. While we are fighting amongst ourselves to blame the other guys, we never join together to demand fiscal responsibility from ALL those we have entrusted with the stewardship of our money and our nation.

What possible negative impact could come from a 1.4% budget cut?

Virtually every bureaucrat will do everything he/she can to make a negative impact be felt. They want to make it hurt so bad that we come crawling back to them begging them to take more of our money for lavish expense accounts and absurd end-of-budget-cycle spending orgies.

And while the useful idiots keep trying to tie it into a partisan issue, or piss and moan over semantics, or keep trying to blame the "other side," they laugh and light their cigars with a $100 bill fleeced from some hyper-partisan taxpayer who is too stupid to stay focused on the real issue.

Not to mention all it really is is a reduction in growth of spending, not the actual debt.

It's all bullshit.

No. They're just setting up the narrative. This way, when the fruits of Obamanomics come to bear, Obama can pass of any negative repercussions of his fiscal policy as being caused by the sequester (itself which would be the brainchild of the GOP). And like clockwork, the LSM will run with this narrative and the typical low-info voter will eat it up. Book it.

Which indicates to me that the Republicans have bungled this from the start. They negotiated the sequestration in return for going along with raising the debt ceiling.

They got it.

Now they are going to take a hit for it? And there really should be absolutely no negative impacts at all - oh, there will be manufactured "hardships" to chasten us for being so foolish as to thing the federal government can exist without 5% jacks in spending every year.

Bad or not, it's the GOP's fault.

Thanks for the chuckle.

Fact is, if Rs are really so concerned, why did they go on vacation, stay on vacation and why are they leaving on another vacation tomorrow?

Tax-paid, I might add.

It has been amazing how most folks have no idea what a "budget cut" is.
A budget is a proposed spending plan.
What the sequester is, is a budget reduction - no REAL money has been taken from anyone.
And consequently - after the sequester - the budget is STILL LARGER THAN 2012...which was larger than 2011...which was larger...

Get it?

What amazes me is the number of people who keep repeating this as if there is anyone out there who doesn't get it.

Kinda like repeating the sky is blue over and over again.

What possible negative impact could come from a 1.4% budget cut?

Meals on wheels is being cut, which is very negative. Notice that nothing in this touches the welfare for the wealthy... only those who are already struggling. Typical.

That is by design.
Spread out "the hurt" as far and as wide as possible so we will never ever even think about asking government to live with their means ever again.

Our government, in its history has not ever really "lived within its means" - I think we've balanced the budget only a handful of times in our existence. Why it only seems to be an issue with this president is beyond me, especially after all of the trillions wasted by Bush that we will get nothing out of.

It's always an issue to both sides. When Bush was in office, Obama called him irresponsible when it came to deficit spending, then Obama and the democrat controlled congress took deficits to record levels. Both sides care of spending a lot: they want to be the ones who have the most control over wasting our money.
