More than 2,500 churches have separated themselves from the United Methodist Church since 2019, and the disaffiliation movement is still going full steam. The UMC's Book of Discipline is the rule book by which the churches are to behave themselves, and it specifically forbids gay pastors and the performance of gay marriages.

But some UMC congregations are disregarding the rules, even to the point of having a gay Bishop. That's why entire congregations are leaving UMC churches and either going to the Global Methodist Church, or starting their own. The Global Methodist Church (GMC) has nothing to do with "globalism", it's a far more conservative denomination of the Methodist Church.
