Like I said, it is much easier to hide a tax increase in production taxes. It is much easier to keep the rubes in the dark. Like I said, I bet 99 out 100 taxpayers have no clue how much they paid in income tax last year, but they can tell you how much their refund was!

It's harder to hide a tax increase in a sales tax. Everyone feels it IMMEDIATELY.

The special interests can hide all their government gifts deep inside the tax code when you have an income tax. No one knows all the exemptions, deductions, and credits they are getting which the rubes have to make up the difference for.
