Don't feel dumb. We just completely underestimated the stupidity of Americans. It's no surprise that 2/3 of Americans can't name all 3 branches of government. Trump may sincerely believe in a lot of his rhetoric, and if he deals with the border effectively and doesn't try and undermine the 2nd Amendment he will be a great president.
