NRA Wants Mentally Ill To Have Gun Rights

After the massacre at Virginia Tech in 2007, Congress did manage to pass a modest measure that was designed to provide money to states to improve the federal background check system. But the N.R.A. secured a broad concession in the legislation, which pushed states to allow people with histories of mental illness to petition to have their gun rights restored.

As a condition of its support for the measure, the National Rifle Association extracted a concession: the inclusion of a mechanism for restoring firearms rights to those who lost them for mental health reasons.

Lol... and liberals like you want illegals and mentally ill Democrats to vote. Same difference I suppose...

You oppose the right of people to go to court and prove that they aren't actually crazy?

Maybe we should prevent mentally ill people from voting or driving cars forever too.

To own or have access to guns? Once they have a documented mental illness? Yes I do!
That is NOT the standard. One must be adjudicated mentally incompetent to lose the right to firearms.

Seriously, why would the NRA want the mentally ill to have gun rights?

Well, hey, MS-13 kills hundreds of people in America every year, but the Dems pretend that MS-13 is some tiny, relatively harmless gang, and some Sanctuary City officials have refused to cooperate with DHS in cracking down on MS-13 activity. So until you give a hoot about this outrage, don't whine about school shootings, which cause a fraction of the deaths that MS-13 causes every year.

Some of the victims are not even out of the operating room and the despicable snowflakes / libs rush to politicize the tragedy.

What else would you expect from people who dides with violent illegals over Americans to shut down the govt.

That's mighty intolerant of you, considering the left is supposed to be all about tolerance.

There are many mental illnesses, many if which do not lead to violence and thoughts if killing people.

You stereotype everyone with a mental illness as a raving lunatic.

Lakota only wants criminals to have guns. Just about as retarded a statement as yours.

Nikolas Cruz, Who Was Too Disturbed to Carry a Backpack, Legally Bought AR-15

Everyone knew Nikolas Cruz was deeply disturbed. He'd been in and out of mental health treatment. He'd been kicked out of school. His Instagram page was full of photos of dead animals and weapons. He was so frightening to teachers that he'd been banned from even carrying a backpack into school.

So how does a guy like that get his hands on a military-style weapon capable of pumping dozens of rounds into innocent victims without even reloading? Well, this is Florida, so he just walks into a gun shop and buys one.

Wow, that is really scary. How can the NRA defend this? How can anyone defend this? The entire article is frightening. Kids at that school were in grave danger.
