On the GOP

1. Anyone who has called out a fellow Republican as a Republican in Name Only for simply agreeing with a Democrat;

is that like the Democrats who call fellow Democrats "Blue Dogs" because.....they might be too Conservative for their tastes and may agree with a Republican position?.....

Not at all. We know Blue Dogs (BD's) as conservative Democrats on fiscal matters, but not callous conservatives like the reactionaries on the fringe of the GOP. BD's actually have empathy and understand being poor is not always a consequence of bad habits. In fact, those with bad habits are also accepted as human beings and not a lesser species, and they believe thay should be given the opportunity to mend their ways as do most Democrats and unlike the fringe conservatives who post on this message board.

Not at all. We know Blue Dogs (BD's) as conservative Democrats on fiscal matters, but not callous conservatives like the reactionaries on the fringe of the GOP.

you have just provided proof positive as to exactly what I covered in the last 2 paragraphs of my post to you on this..... you really think your shit doesn't stink, but everyone else's does ......unbelievable..

Wow, that's a stretch. Temper, temper Nero, don't fiddle away your good will.

The Republican Party (RP) is dying by its own hand. To be viable it needs to weed out extremists and understand a national party needs to represent all United States Citizens. At one time the party leaders pretended to have a big tent open to everyone; once that was proved ridiculous they dropped the tag-line and even the pretext of cultural pluralism.

There is no doubt that the RP is the party of Big Business and holds blue collar workers in disdain. Their policies exploit the low income worker, both non citizen immigrants and Americans citizens, and deceive the middle class with platitudes, false pathos and promises never fulfilled. They obfuscate issues with emotion laden propaganda and misuse words - making them pejoratives - to defame anyone who represents a threat to their one goal: Power.

Essentially the RP of today is built on a foundation of mendacity and is little different than the French Aristocracy before 1789. While the phrase, "let them eat cake" is apocryphal it exists today in the policies of the extreme members in GOP leadership, especially on the state level. Attacks on Unionism, demands that the poor pay more in taxes and the 'job creators' pay less, eliminating the minimum wage law, acting as if those in the legislatures know better then do doctors on the needs of health for women and children, building barriers to voting and that anyone who attempts to curtail the abuse of health insurers is a Communist, Socialist or Statist.

Unless the RP wakes up it will find itself a footnote in history.

This is one of your fantasy's...

Stick to subjects that deal with reality...

Clearly not.

We need a viable second party offering intelligent, pragmatic candidates interested in pursuing sound and responsible governance.

Currently the GOP is not that party.

Why would we need a second party for that when we don't even have a first party that offers it?

Guy, I voted for Bush in 2000. And 2004.

But he really did steal the election in 2000. Al Gore got more votes. While the whole electoral college thing is what is supposed to "really" count, the fact is, no one ever tried to pull what Bush did in 112 years. Even Nixon in 1960.

Then you get into the whole vote in Florida, where they went to court to make sure a full vote never happened.

There's a valid argument to be made Bush stole the election of 2000.

Or at the very least, he didn't validly win it.

not even close to the whackadoodle that is Birtherism.
No one in all the history of the United States attempted to do what Al Gore did. Continuous recounts until you achieve the results you want.

That is why Bush did NOT steal the election, he, and the SCOTUS simply would not allow Gore to recast the necessary votes to get HIM elected.

The entire Bush stole the election meme is so friggin old.

I don't know, asking for a recount done by someone who isn't the candidate's brother isn't an unreasonable request.

I mean, shit, that's what they do in third world countries.

Oh, yeah SCOTUS. A body where the candidate's father gave two of these guys their jobs.

The stand up thing for Bush to do would have been to say, "Al Gore got the most votes. The people have spoken", and that should have been the end of it.

The recounts in Florida, like every other state, are conducted by county election officials, not people named Bush.

11. Oh, so you don't like the 2nd Amendment, do you? Well, you can pry those rights from "my cold dead hands." The Heller case makes it clear that your "common sense" will not find a way into legislation.

LOL, at least you admit a lack of common sense. The first step to recovery.

Where did I say I lacked any common sense? At least I don't lack a brain.

12. The 700 Club? Wow, that's reaching. Who watches the 700 Club anymore?

The same who always did, Social Conservatives.

Uh, I am a social conservative, I despise that show.

13. See my previous response. Ed Schulz, Al Sharpton, Nancy Pelosi

As Speaker Nancy Pelosi was an all star, Speaker Boehner is a joke

Well, at least Boehner didn't say our debt wasn't a problem.

14. What did they do? Oh they're rich, take their money!

Channeling Rush Limbaugh I see.

Channeling stupid I see.

15. And what did they do?

As Speaker Madam Pelosi could count votes, and passed bills.

What?

16. SEIU

Oh I see. I'll let the IRS know so they can add them to the payroll.

So because Latinos are not given "special exception" to Federal Immigration laws that other immigrants need to abide by, the Republicans are somehow attacking Latinos? Perhaps we need to be treating ALL immigrants the same, instead of singling out and viewing a particular group through the eyes of a solid voting block to keep a certain party in power? Is appeasement more important than following current laws regarding this issue? At least the Republicans aren't desperate enough to overlook what is right for the vast majority of OTHER immigrants, seeking to endure the long legal process to become citizens of the United States under the law.

Add special exception immigration laws to single out one particular group of immigrants with the strong resistance towards ensuring any form of regulated voter integrity in elections, and there is a strong argument towards a party who will use any means to establish an environment that encourages a certainty of power.

Relevancy of the GOP or one party's appeasement over simply enforcing our current Federal laws?

While Latinos might be the largest bloc of illegal immigrants they are not the only ones. In Chicago it is the Poles who are a significant part of the illegal immigrant population. So alienating all illegal immigrants means that the RP is also losing voters amongst Polish-Americans.

Exactly how is naming two groups of illegal immigrants alienating ALL immigrants,
That is NOT what I posted. Try reading it again.
when the vast majority who seek to become citizens do so under the requirements of Federal Immigration Laws? Should not ALL immigrants be required to follow the same rules of law and be treated the same, instead of rewarding those who break them and creating "exceptions"? Try explaining your reasoning of "alienation" to those who choose to obey those immigration policies already in place, and wait years to be finally granted US citizenship "legally" so they be reconnected permanently with their loved ones who already went through the same process before them. The Republicans aren't failing, when they can look to current immigration policies that are in place for ALL to follow. It appears others still have chosen the road to exceptions and appeasement, ignoring the rule of Federal Law that the majority of other immigrants still follow by simply OBEYING it. I find it amazing those who feel the Republicans should become the enabler of breaking Federal laws on this issue, just because it's the popular thing to do so. I'm sure appeasing and attaining a block of future voters is so much more respected than following and enforcing the rule of law. However, I believe the Republicans are right to not fear having to stand behind a difficult unpopular decision that defends the equal rights of ALL those who only seek the same exact path to citizenship without catering to exceptions with a certain few for strictly political gain.

The legalization of the status of illegal immigrants is supported by the moderate majority of Americans, Congress and the WH. The only obstruction is the Tea Party faction in the House. For them immigration reform means enabling the President to keep a campaign promise to the Latino community. However Boehner lacks the backbone to stand up to the the TP minority and do what is right for America. By playing politics with this issue the GOP is alienating voters who have relatives and friends amongst the illegal immigrant community. This is costing the GOP votes and support in south western states that it can ill afford right now. By 2016 TX could become a purple state.

So did Bush, what;s your point?

Bush stole the election in 2000 even though every single recount, even the ones conducted by Democrats, all said Bush won. Yet, somehow, that is not nearly as wackaddodle to you as birthers who also deny the evidence of reality.

Guy, I think your grasp on reality is tenuous at best.

Look, I realize how much you guys have invested in Bush. The man was a complete fucking disaster and wrecked the country, but you guys need to man up to the fact that a fair and complete accounting was NEVER done in Florida.

Every partial recount put Al Gore closer to winning, which is why they didn't want a complete recount.

You live in denial of the fact that the Associated Press, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN, St. Petersburg Times, Palm Beach Post, Washington Post and the Tribune Co. paid for a million dollar recount that concluded that if Gore had gotten everything he asked for he would have lost, and I am who has a tenuous grip on reality?

You clearly don’t understand the issue.

No one is advocating any laws be ‘violated.’

Hispanic Americans correctly perceive republican opposition to immigration reform as animosity toward Hispanics in general, as a particular class of persons. Where conservatives needlessly fear that a continued influx of ‘Spanish people’ will alter the nature of America, to the disadvantage of whites.

Hispanics aren’t stupid, they understand what is meant by ‘illegals’ and ‘anchor babies,’ as well as calls for the repeal of the 14th Amendment, or to ‘alter’ the Constitution in some way as to end birthright citizenship, all called for by republican politicians.

There are logical, objective, appropriate reasons to enact immigration reform, both with regard to securing the border as well as addressing the issue of undocumented immigrants already in the country.

Republican opposition to immigration reform makes no sense, and Hispanic Americas can only infer that the ‘rationale’ for republican opposition is hostility toward Latinos.

Your party chose Nancy Pelosi to represent the direction Congress should take, a representative (mind you) from the state with the biggest amount of debt in the union. Then we wonder why our nation has followed the same course of accumulating massive debt. How exactly is that using wisdom and "common sense"?

Blaming Madam Pelosi for the debt in CA is formed by bias and ignorance; there is no factual evidence to even suggest a single member of Congress had anything to do with the policies that created a large debt in CA, or the growth of the national debt as speaker under George W. Bush.

No, actually it doesn't. The GOP is stuck on repeal and that's not what people want.

LOL. Then why did Obama delay it? Even HE doesn't want it anymore.

:clap2:

That's one very ignorant comment. I hope you were looking for a laugh.

No, it was a statement of fact. The law is collapsing under it's own weight. Yes, I get my laughs from woefully ignorant individuals such as yourself. And from people such as Seawytch who says people actually support this disaster.

  :lmao:

Delayed forcing 4% of large corps from starting for 1 year, that's all, chump.. Obama himself didn't even want the mandate, thinks people will just sign up when they see how it works...Now the dupes are just running scared, like you. They should look it up.

thats not an answer and its not a stretch , at all, its is exactly the progression of your exchanges writ large.

And its your usual passive-aggressive smoke screen.....I love it when you pontificate on how crazy and intolerant everyone else is, yet respond like a crazy intolerant yourself, and then, when provided with an earnest explanation, you ignore it and play to type. I should have known better but, I tried.

the right for gays to be married like non-gays....you can say i am full of shit on this....but the thing failed twice in this pretty Liberal State ......so apparently a hell of a lot of Democrats feel the same as Republicans do....

Not according to national polls. Might work as a platform in Alabama or Mississippi, but not on in a national platform.

like all polls it depends on who is doing it......
