which is why it never should have happened in the first place...to that point in time Kennedy was preaching to Americans that we should trust the soviets, work with them, peacefully share and co-exist with them, and then they armed a hostile neighbor of ours with nukes....Kennedy was a good man with good intentions, but in terms of actual accomplishments his presidency was had little to show...his first 2 years were like those of most presidents, getting his feet wet and somewhere in his second year his ratings were tanking and the administration with hollywood help spent the next year rehabilitating them...by the time of his untimely death he was so popular as to be unbeatable and he had no real accomplishments explain his popularity outside of his charisma and ability to awe people simply by speaking to them...he also learned you never, under any circumstance, trust a communistwe capitulated...that would have turned out?
