They lined their southern border with Mexican military, and those people are not like our military. They will shoot to kill. For those that are able to somehow sneak around them, Trump restructured our asylum policy. If you want to apply for asylum, you must do it at a US embassy in your own country. Also is the rider that if that couldn't be done, and you do make it to our border, your asylum application will be immediately rejected IF you were offered asylum anywhere else along the way and refused it.

He also told our agencies if they suspect any female of being pregnant, reject their Visa application.
