Since you are obviously a military procurement specialist, how many years did we fight in World War II with tanks that easily beaten by the Germans, and fighters that were outperformed by the Japanese? How long did it take to develop a long-range escort fighter for the B-17 bombers in Europe? How many years did it take to develop the atomic bomb?

I received a letter in June of 2001 asking me if I wanted to return to active duty because the Clinton administration had run so many officers out of the Navy that there were not enough experienced officers to fill the sea duty positions! Believe me, they were trying to plan ahead and get the military back on its feet!

Did anyone understand that the aircraft carrier would rule the ocean before the war started? Nope. They were all busy building massive battleships that would prove almost useless during the war. Did the USA have a tank that was effective against the tanks the Germans had? Nope. The Sherman was a sad pathetic excuse for a tank.
