Actually NYC's population hasn't been that much over the past few decades, especially compared with the rest of the nation. If anything there's evidence that New Yorkers are moving from NY for other places.

I live in Tampa so I'll use that information as my example. NYC grew by 2% over the past decade whereas Tampa grew by 19.7% (according to the US Census Bureau).

It's not just percentage increase though, despite having a significantly higher population Tampa still had more growth by actual people. NYC: 161,684, Tampa: 242,766. That's nearly 90,000 more in population growth despite having a significantly lower population. Pathos aside you have zero argument.

Even NY's suburbs don't look so hot. Long Island which is obviously one of NY's biggest suburbans areas actually decreased in population.

Now to my opinions. If so many NYers "know" that NY is the most important place in the world...why are they leaving? Why the stagnant growth-especially compared to other places? I grew up in NY and moved to Florida I would NEVER move back. You're on the hamster wheel up there, people are rude, everything is extremely expensive, dirty, and you have no clue until you step outside of that NY bubble since you have no frame of reference. The only bubble who think NY is so mystical, amazing place is people from NY-and not all of them do.
