Would you support this gun reform bill?

5; Automatic accomplice charges for all cases where a gun is knowingly sold to a criminal. What this means is that if a personally knowingly and intentionally sales a gun to a criminal, they will be automatically charged as accomplices to any crimes committed using that gun. If the criminal uses the gun to murder someone, the seller will be charged with murder.

anybody can be a criminals is they have an AR 15 or some others. I vote for only 10 cartridges for any magazine.
How will you guarantee that bad guys have no more than 10 round magazines?

The NRA is a gun manufacturing lobby, with it's leaders all owning millions of dollars in tock in those companies. They have a long history of opposing any and all refrms or laws which would negatively effect the profits of gun makers. I would would take any claims made by anyone associated with the NRA with a grain of salt.
You are fabricating BS. You have no possible way of knowing what stocks any of them own.

The NRA is entirely responsible for the revisions to the 4473 and instant background check system both of which have denied sales to tens of millions of people since their inception.

The assault ban in 1993 did a lot of good, Bush Jr let it sunset in 2003.
There is no evidence it had any effect on violent crime at all.

What we know for a fact worked was stiff penalties for violent crime and the 3 strikes laws all that kept violent felons locked up for decades instead of releasing them back onto the streets to commit even more crimes.

From your citation.

The scientific consensus among criminologists and other researchers is that the ban had little to no effect on overall criminal activity, firearm deaths, or the lethality of gun crimes. Studies have found that the overwhelming majority of gun crimes are committed with weapons which are not covered by the AWB, and that assault weapons are less likely to be used in homicides than other weapons. There is tentative evidence that the frequency of mass shootings may have slightly decreased while the ban was in effect, but research is inconclusive, with independent researchers finding conflicting results.

The AWB had no measurable effect on reducing homicides or violent crime period.

They are the least frequently used guns by criminals of all firearm types.

/----/ Here's a crazy idea, why not enforce the laws already on the books and court tested?

“One of the most frustrating things that I hear is when people say – who are opposed to any further laws – ‘Why don’t you just enforce the laws that are on the books?’” Obama said. “And those very same members of Congress then cut (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) budgets to make it impossible to enforce the law.” - BHO
We can't have that, too many democrats would end up in prison.

A good number of mass shootings were done using guns the shooter bought legally, despite histories of mental illness and/or having felonies on their criminal record, both of which would have caused them to fail a background check
Then either the background checks failed or the responsible officials failed to enter them into the FBI database.

The only alternative is a straw purchase or theft.

A good number of mass shootings were done using guns the shooter bought legally, despite histories of mental illness and/or having felonies on their criminal record, both of which would have caused them to fail a background check. They were able to get the guns legally because their histories were not reported to the federal government and were not included in the background check system. This is either negligence on the part of the clerks who are supposed to do the reporting, or a willful and intentional choice to not file the information to be included in the background check system. Several mass shootings could have been prevented if the information had been properly reported, causing the shooters to be unable to pass the background checks.
And yet you seem to believe that adding more laws and complexity to the system is somehow going to produce better results.

Have you been smoking the Crystal Drain O again?

As well as making it a felony for a person to make a straw purchase for someone who would not be able to legally make the purchase themselves, and if a firearm included in such a purchase is used in a crime, the purchaser would be charged as an accomplice.
That's already the case.

Laws that are not being enforced

It should be an automatic 3 years in jail for anyone caught illegally carrying a firearm in public
Possession maybe but "carry" gets complicated and innocent people with no criminals intent get caught up in carry laws. There have even been cases where someone merely transporting firearms while moving from one state to another has gone to prison for firearms violations.

Most states already have harsh punishments for anyone illegally carrying a firearm.

The issue is that depending on who is doing the carrying, gun nuts either like or hate those punishments. If they see a black gangbanger getting a few years for it, they are all for it. but if a fellow gun nut gets arrested, they call it a violation of the second amendment.
You are again fabricating BS.

The NRA is a gun manufacturing lobby, with it's leaders all owning millions of dollars in tock in those companies. They have a long history of opposing any and all refrms or laws which would negatively effect the profits of gun makers., including opposing background checks for mental illness, because crazy people tend to like to own guns. I would would take any claims made by anyone associated with the NRA with a grain of salt.
You liberals love to blame the big bad NRA for your failure to pass draconian gun laws that would disarm American citizens.

The fact is it is the voters the politicians fear rather than the NRA. Gun legislation this year will be mild at the best as it is an election year and politicians realize that passing something like another Assault Weapons Ban will lead to their being voted out of office if they voted for the legislation.

You damn right gun owners oppose any and all infringements on their Second Amendment rights. We give you an inch and you try to take a mile. How about you start enforcing existing gun laws against criminals rather than honest people.
