Admitting you're gay warrents a call from the president?

A nobody basketball player admits he's gay on Facebook and suddenly it's national news? And it's followed up with a call from the president?

Seriously?

We are so fucked as a nation.

Showing courage is something that should be recognized. A phone call is a small gesture that hardly shows that "we're fucked as a nation".

You know what does show that we're fucked as a nation. People who start threads about how the nation is becoming "weak & sissified" yet also start threads bashing people who actually show courage. Hypocrisy is killing this country and you just need to look at yourself as to where the problem begins.

You're a washed up felon who brags about playing his music too loud until the cops have to be called and yet you have the stones to call out people who actually show a little bit of real courage.

Amazing.

No..Actually it does not. Not from the President of the United States.
This phone call from Obama is beneath the status of the Office.

Actually his phone call makes perfect sense.

The liberals have equated sodomy (being gay) to the 60s civil rights movement. Being gay and being black apparently to liberals is exactly the same thing. So why wouldn't Obama congratulate the brother for letting the world know that he on the down low? Now because of this man's brave stand how many will now be sodomized and feel a whole lot better about themselves instead of just a butt burn?

So when is obama going to call the Benghazi whistle blowers and commend them on their bravery for coming forward?

Seeing how he is the first Pro basketball player to come out, I would say he is more courageous than some blogger like you Grampa. Attention from the President is warranted in my opinion.

Luckily the old bigots are dying off.

Old fucking republicans, please dont change.

See you all in 2016. Losers.

Dennis Rodman beat him to the gay pride position.

I see you're giving your buddy a hand job....

I was just sitting here wondering if Obama would call up Chris Mathews if Mathews came out of the closet and admitted that he was a conservative.
I was just sitting here wondering if Obama would call up Richard Simmons if Simmons came out of the closet and admitted that he was straight.
I was just sitting here wondering if Obama would call up Cher if Cher came out of the closet and admitted that she has been dead for twelve years.
Seriously! What the hell is this really about? The press bombards us with topics like gun control which is #35 on the list of what people are worried about. I'll even bet the gun control topic is higher than the gay basketball player topic across our countries kitchen tables. I miss the good ol' days when presidents went to war to avoid topics like a sluggish economy and oral sex. When did DC become TMZ?

We gotta have priorities...

Sarcasm aside, it does make sense that Obama would call, one gay man to another.

I've heard obama needs some pointers on his hoops game. A third-rate, nobody, soon-to-be washed up nobody NBA player might do the trick.

You lefties that say this is no big deal answer this for me. If Obama is so up to date on current events and peoples personal sexual preferences then why today when he was asked about people in the cia being forbiden from testifying about Benghazi did he have no clue? The investigation has been ongoing for months now and when asked about it he had "no knowledge" of what has been in the press for days now? He knows about some obscure ball players sex life but draws a blank when asked a question about national security.....

Because he genuinely cares about some ball player's (anyone else note that) sex life. He could give a rat's ass about Benghazi, or the CIA, or national security...unless it's his own security (him being a national treasure and all).

Are you 12? If not, you need to grow up.

And if you think straights aren't having butt sex then you're a clueless idiot. Check it out (assuming you're old enough), anal is pretty much standard operating procedure in porn these days.

Unless you think every gay person in the world who does not announce their sexual preference in a national magazine is a coward I do not see how you can claim this guy is courageous. Do you expect him to face prison, serious bodily injury, or death because he announced he is gay? What the fuck makes what he did any more courageous than walking across the street?

Seriously? Let's be just slightly honest. It's not a life or death situation, at least we will hope. At the same time, it is actually a big step in the sports world. Not recognizing that shows ignorance.

The only bigots in this thread are the people that think it is brave to come out in 2013.

You are aware it is 2013, aren't you?

Is it? Or is the big deal in the minds of small minded bigots?

He's made himself a target for Republican and right wing hate. We know how deep that runs. And he's black too? That makes him a hero.
