Be Strong In The LORD

The difference between Born again Christians and the Roman Church is that the Born again Christians believe the Bible and follow the teachings of the bible whereas the Roman Church teaches false doctrines of devils - and is not based on Scripture - it is all based on Paganism, Satanic rituals - even the incense and holy water - based totally on the occult. It's true. You should research the history of it and quit blaming Jesus for what He has no part in.

The sad thing is that you actually believe that crap. That's what makes you kind of scary. Not only what your sort would do to those of us who don't believe in Sky Fairies, but what you'd do to people who don't believe in Sky Fairies the right way.

"You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say that we are the ones that need help?"
-- Dan Barker, Losing Faith in Faith

The Word of God teaches us that as Christians we are to put on the whole armor of God according to Ephesians 6:10-20. Why do we do this? Because Christians are victorious in spiritual warfare when they put on the whole armor of God, pray and rely on the power of God as their defense. God is our defense. This thread will be different in that we are going to do a bible study on what it means to be Strong in the LORD and we begin at the first command - put on the full armor of God!

Let's begin by examining examples A & B.
A:
Mike feels convicted of his sins and realizes that the Holy Spirit is dealing with him. He sees the truth that he has been living apart from God and decides to repent of his sins and invites Jesus Christ to become his Lord and Savior according to John 3:16,17,18 and Romans 10: 9,10. Mike joins a small church and gets baptized in water. Then Mike asks the Pastor who is a Spirit filled believer to pray for him to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and now Mike has received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Mike studies the Word of God and obeys the Lord faithfully and five years later feels called to the mission field to preach the Gospel in Nigeria. His work will be done in a very dangerous war torn Village. Mike is praying that the LORD will equip him for this calling. Mike wonders if he really is capable of being an effective missionary.

Example B:

Joe feels called to join the Army and he decides to join and follow in his fathers footsteps as a career soldier. He serves faithfully for 5 years and then he is offered the job of recruiting civilians to join the US Army. Joe accepts the job. Joe learns that others in the recruiting office have University degrees and are highly educated and Joe begins to wonder if he has the skills to do this job. Are his computer skills good enough? Can he handle the technical aspects of the job? Will the Army supply him with the instruction and tools necessary to do this new job?

Just as Joe's employers (US Army) could not ask him to do a job without equipping him with the training or proper tools neither does the LORD expect Mike to go out onto the mission field without what he needs. The truth is Jesus Christ equips Christians with everything necessary to succeed in spiritual warfare against the devil and his evil forces. That is not isolated to going on the mission field as the world is our mission field. Therein Jesus Christ has equipped us and our part is to #1 Put on the full armor of God. Every single day.

Ephesians 6 10 Finally be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

The Full Armor of God
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.11Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.…

Another weapon of our warfare is pleading the Blood of Jesus Christ. The Blood of Jesus is a powerful weapon against the enemy and one that Christians some times overlook. When praying I plead the Blood of Jesus Christ and have seen the LORD do many great things!

Never happened? Why not link to the page with your phony, edited and parsed "quote" and let others make their own conclusions.
Why not just tell everyone to go read the Noah thread? There they can find Hollie's Folly and the rest of your rants. This is not the place. Unless you have something to add to being strong in the Lord, we're done here.

Joe, welcome to the 21 century. Where all those things that keep you up at night like the crusades have been put in the past where they belong.
I didn't realize that Christians were killing gays. Do you have a head count on that?

Last time I checked people in this country have the right to believe what they want. Sorry you can't handle that. Maybe you should allow that freedom and quit bombing this thread. You also have the right to start a thread of your own, asking questions and looking for answers...........

Maybe you need to check with George W. Stupid. He called his invasion of Iraq a "Crusade".

No need. Intelligence rules the day. Maybe you could pretend to quote the Qur'an again.
Noah!:tomato:

I never quoted the Koran. Did you hope to sidestep may exposure of your multiple lies?

As long as I have been on USMB I have never once heard Irish Ram tell a lie. She is a very nice person and she loves the LORD, Hollie. I'd appreciate you not attacking people on this bible study thread. Alright? Personal attacks are not permitted and calling someone a liar on USMB is not permitted either. Read the rules.

Joe, we're coming back to the bible study discussion now - so if you want to join in - join in - otherwise - lets leave George W. out - alright? I have some great things to share coming up - that will enhance this study - stay tuned, Joe!

First Gurnall - these quotes from William Gurnall are also encouragement to Be strong in the LORD.

This one is from his sermon - BE ON YOUR GUARD -

Either you destroy the power of Satan in your life by putting on the whole armor of God and keeping it on, or Satan will destroy you.
-William Gurnall

Note the reference to putting on the whole Armor of God again! Over and over we see some of the greatest preachers from history telling us repeatedly to put on the whole Armor of God!

Here is another quote I love from William Gurnall.

Satan is not challenging you to a mock battle, this war is a life-or-death struggle. if you do not believe me, look what he has done to God's servants in times past. Charging full speed ahead at many a dear saint, he has battered their armor until the grace of God in them was almost unrecognizable. All this he does when he catches a saint off guard.

- William Gurnall

So what is the answer to this? Do not let the enemy catch you off guard. Be as wise as a serpent and as harmless as a dove. Be a watchman on the wall and be vigilant. Be steadfast in everything you are doing and ask the LORD to help you. He will.

Ecclesiastes 9:11

I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.

I'm exalted after a long day at work.

The Lord ambushed the enemy through Jehoshaphat's obedience and following the command of the LORD. The LORD made it clear to him that this battle belonged to Him not Jehoshaphat! Jehoshaphat had been told that a great multitude was coming against him to do battle. His response was to seek the LORD and call a fast. Here is another key to warfare - we first seek the LORD for direction - we call a fast to get clear direction and strength because fasting makes you strong in the LORD. In this matter Jehoshaphat called a fast throughout Judah. They all sought the LORD.

Here was the LORD's response to them:

Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.
- 2 Chronicles 10: 17, 18

The outcome of that story was the LORD did show up mightily and ambushed their enemies while they obeyed the LORD's orders on what to do. This scene unfolds in verse 22.........

And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Se'-ir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

No one escaped. There were dead bodies fallen to the earth and none escaped according to verse 24 - the LORD totally destroyed their enemies - one ambush and BAM. They were all dead. in verse 29, 30 it reads And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel. So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest round about. I love that last part - the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest round about. That is the God I serve. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. That is the God I serve. What a mighty God He is! What a mighty, mighty, ALMIGHTY GOD He is! I praise His Holy Name today! Oh yes I do!
