All due respect, that is one verse - out of thousands of verses, hundreds of pages, 66-72 books - that Jesus Christ, thousands of people, Saints, Prophets, disciples sacrificed their lives for - so that we could be given the gift of the Good News. If that one verse (Not Gospel nor the direct word of God, btw) is all it takes to be redeemed then why not just publish that one verse and be done with it? Do you believe eternal redemption is some sort of "magic password"? I've got news for you - it surely is not.Sorry Ace, but a kinsman redeemer can't make a partial payment. If He can't make the whole payment then the redemption doesn't happen.
Our righteous works are like used menstrual pads to God.
If you are correct, then your eye is constantly on yourself. It's one of the reasons God hated the Law.
Our salvation is not of ourselves, lest any man boast. This is what it takes to be salvaged:
Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.
That said, it certainly is possible that someone could be redeemed if they truly understood what they were saying, and they meant it with their heart, with all their body and with all their soul. But the likelihood of someone being able to truly do that without understanding (And living out) the overall body of work of both the Old Testament and the Teachings of Jesus Christ are slim.
"Our righteous works are like used menstrual pads to God."
NO! Absolutely NOT!
Now this is what can get you into trouble when (again) you pick ONE verse out of thousands to proclaim the Word of God - be very, very careful with that. (Just some humble advice, from my heart).
That verse was quoted by Isaiah in response to God - and he did it in a manner of humility, in a responsorial prayer.
In those days people would make idols out of gold & silver and regard doing that as some sort of "righteous act". The exact quote was, "We are all like one who is unclean, all our so-called righteous acts are like a menstrual rag in your sight." Notice the part where he said, "Our so-called righteous acts"
Why did he say that? Because the acts he is referring to WERE NOT "righteous acts" in God's eyes because they were FALSE IDOLS that people would create thinking they were doing something "righteous".
This is what God said to Isaiah:
"Then you will desecrate your idols overlaid with silver and your images covered with gold; you will throw them away like a menstrual cloth and say to them, “Away with you!”
Do you see the difference? Do you understand?
From the very same book of Isaiah 41:
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness[a] will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
“If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday."
Those passages are meant to teach people the difference between something that is detestable to God (False Idols, thinking they are some sort of "righteous act") vs. what will truly help us on our path to righteousness - Feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, provide justice for the oppressed, refrain from malicious talk, etc.
Now for your sake and the sake of others - what you believe, act and do is between you and God but please do not proclaim single passages to others as ways "To be saved" or "Not to be saved" - you very well could damage a person's path to God - and if so, that would be on your hands - not the person you led astray. (Again, I say this from my heart).
