Obama only put an end to it, because Cuba has finally rejected its socialist policies that ruined itself. The free market is emerging. Private business is booming. The country, after decades of decline, is starting to grow. Any president, right or left, would have moved to start repealing the ban on trade at this time.

Cuba has imported $7 Billion a year. Which according to you, should be impossible.

Doing business in Cuba was difficult to do without the embargo, because of the communist government. That said, many companies simply do business through foreign companies. The UK, likely wouldn't do much business directly with Cuba, because of their close ties to the US. I will grant you that.

But they often simply do business with Canada, and the Netherlands, and other countries which do business in Cuba all the time.

It's the same as the Arab Oil embargo against the US, which did basically nothing. Instead of selling directly the to US, they sold to other countries, which then sold the same oil to the US. Once the oil is on the boat, and the boat leaves the harbor, it is impossible to control where it goes.

Same with Cuba. Before the recent relaxing of the embargo, Cargil, and Tyson would load up a ship full of food, and send it to.... Columbia, which sold it to Cuba. Or sold it to Venezuela, which sold it to Cuba. The ship would leave an American port, and dock at a Cuban port. Completely legal.

The only difference now is, Cuba can buy directly from Cargil and Tyson. Ironically, the left wing hates both, and claims they are horrible companies, but now is celebrating them being able to spread doom and destruction across Cuba.

Like I said before, you left-wingers have flip flopped all over the place on this, and changed position so many times, you can't even remember what you have said in the past.

You really think that they should be able to pay to import a hundred billion in goods, when people are lucky to have $20 a month? That's not a logical premise.

The sanctions didn't cause them to be impoverished. Left-wing policies did. We know that because they can, and do import billions of dollars worth of good, which according to you should be impossible.

But the reason imports are small.... is because you can't really buy tons of imported goods, when the average Cuban under left-wing impoverishing policies, only has $20 a month.

Will that change? Sure. Cuba is moving away from the devastating left-wing policies of the past, and every step a country takes away from equality and socialism, the more wealthy people get.

And yes, I fully support the end of the embargo. But no amount of lies, will change the fact it wasn't the embargo the destroyed Cuba. It was socialism.
