First Felon unzipped ... Trump fails in his responsibility with petulant firing of Alexander Vindman

Donald Trump has demonstrated that the GOP Senators who said that the impeachment would cause Donald Trump to temper his actions were dead wrong as Trump conducts a massacre of government officials who testified in the impeachment investigations.

A president has the right to a national security team he trusts. A president also has the responsibility to put the best interests of the nation before his own.

Firing Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman on Friday, Trump acted as is his right but abandoned his responsibility.

To be sure, Vindman has become an inherently partisan figure. The moment the Army officer raised concerns about the propriety of a July White House meeting on Ukraine and later a July phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, he risked entering an inherently political space. That became inevitable once the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives launched impeachment proceedings.

Still, there is little evidence that Vindman acted outside the established reporting procedures in raising his concerns, and Vindman's service record as an Army officer suggests that he is first and foremost a patriot. We pay our military officers to make very tough calls in the nation's best interest. Vindman believed, credibly, that he was doing so.

For that reason, he was due more respect from his commander in chief than that which he received on Friday.

Team Trump sees things differently, of course, but Trump's supporters should remember that the president is not a king. ...
Personally I'm investing in pitchfork and torch futures....

You're going to be pretty lonely out there all by yourself.

I'm an old codger, and I cannot recall a time in my life when the country has been run more smoothly or better. All this in spite of the vicious, shameful attacks by the Democrats who see any chance of leadership anytime in the foreseeable future, swirling down the drain.

Thank God we have Republican Party that does that. Just stopped a coup attempt against our constitutionally, democratically, elected executive branch.
he was not democratically elected, it was by electoral college....and impeachment is a constitutional process given solely to the House, and is not a coup.

The Electoral College is how America elects Presidents.
yes, very true....but it is THE ONLY election in the Nation that is not a democratically elected position.... senators, congressmen, governors, state legislators and state senators and sheriffs and even dog catchers if elected are done through a democratic voting process of one man, one vote.... they win by the popular vote....
Senators, Congressman, governors, state legislators, state senators, sheriffs, and dog catchers are elected for representation over a specific area such as a state, county, or city.
The president represents ALL states, counties and cities. The FF's were a smart bunch.

I never thought it would temper his actions. You made up false charges. Why should I temper my actions, just because YOU made up false charges, and tried to overthrow the entire democracy? You deserve to be smacked around now. You asked for it, you earned, and now you are going to get it.

Tough snot. All your own fault buddy.

He was elected by the laws of the land. If your party doesn't like the laws, then they should work to change them going forward. The House has the sole power to (indict) impeach. The Senate has the sole power to bring that impeachment to trial. Again, your party doesn't like the rules, they can attempt to change them for the future.

Vindman is USELESS in the WH. He's supposed to be some kind of expert, but no one trusts him with any information.

He really needs to be removed and redeployed to command a shit shoveling company in Louisiana. Someplace where the country can get some value.

Hardly "petulant" to remove him from the WH premises.

That would cause you to lose your job.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that line!

The Democrats were so afraid of President Donald Trump in the office that they started talking IMPEACHMENT before he ever took office. How can any honest person take that seriously? They knew, and it is coming to fruition, that his management skills and knowledge could solve problems with relative ease and swiftly.

How is working to remove our President from office, before he even takes office, NOT a coup? They knew that Hillary would continue their reign and continue to hide their secrets.

Don't you think it damages any credibility you may have remaining by not conceding that, as much as you may hate the man, he is doing one heck of a job?
