Still, there is little evidence that Vindman acted outside the established reporting procedures in raising his concerns, and Vindman's service record as an Army officer suggests that he is first and foremost a patriot. We pay our military officers to make very tough calls in the nation's best interest. Vindman believed, credibly, that he was doing so.

Founders wanted "regions" to elect the President. We are a transcontinental nation. Popular vote might work for Denmark...but we could fit 100 Denmarks inside USA. People in New England have different views than people in Mid-West. People in South have different economic needs than people on West Coast. People in the West have different political views than the rest. States are allowed to hold elections however they want. Constitution allows this. It prevents California from trying to impose its views on Arkansas. Etc. that's called democratic process that leads to stability.
