Hey republicans, how exactly are we supposed to fix the stagnant wage problem?

Cl
Do you have the same requirements in both places (for heating, transportation, etc.)
Yes...

If you like to really discuss the issue...you can do your part.

Otherwise....I can only assume you really don't care.
I don't care since it doesn't matter here. Americans would have to be adults to implement a "living wage" and they aren't so it ain't happening. Next.

Thanks for your honesty.

It is strange that you want a living wage but can't seem to explain what it will do for people.

How do you know it would be a living wage ?

If republicans are too immature to admit the low wage problem can't be fixed through forcefully raising the minimum wage, how exactly are we supposed to boost wages? Since the recession there has been a significant decrease of high wage jobs and a significant increase of low wage jobs. How do we fix poverty if 10s of millions of Americans HAVE NO CHOICE but to accept low wage jobs?

Let's pretend republicans had full control over this issue. What would republicans do to boost wages? I want specific answers. Don't give me crap like "undo democratic bullshit of the last 6 years derp derp derp". I want SPECIFIC AND DETAILED steps on how we are supposed to boost wages in this county if raising the minimum wage isn't an option.
I am not an R, but to increase wages would require the termination of progressive policies. Stop shipping jobs out of the country with your crazy tax schemes and enviro regulations.
The jobs go where labor is cheap. Not many here will work 12-hour days, six days a week, for a buck a day, but they will in China. You an't gonna beat that no matter how few the regulations or how low the taxes.

So why raise the minimum wage if jobs are going to leave by doing so?

Easy, we know the cost of living. And what I want is world peace but that ain't happening either so I don't bang my head against the wall.

I'm no Republican, but if were up to me government would have exactly no power to manipulate wages.

At the same time, I am all for having a conversation about how we get such large income inequality.

Economics teaches that if someone is making huge amounts of money....competitors will enter the marketplace.

So where are the competitors to the 1% ?

Why don't they exist ?

I am very interested to why they don't show up.

You can't keep them here regardless so what are you worried about? Capitalism is about maximizing shareholder value, that's it boys.

You do know the cost of living...what kind of living ?

I mean, really, don't you need to normalize your desired goals.

Me too. I think a lot if it is because the one percent have learned to use government as a means of acquiring and preserving wealth.

Guess what?

The Government is the chosen representatives of "We the People"
Yes they do spend our money for the benefit of all and YES they do create jobs

Another testament to how government schools have failed us.

Like it or not, it is the best government system in the world.......I now open it up to you to describe one better

There isn't one better. Which is why a communist like you is doing just fine. You are a testament to our success, even as you endlessly toil for our undoing. Is that a paradox or what?

So there is no need for anyone to raise the minimum wage, it would be pointless as the jobs would leave this country. Thank you.

The need is there but the jobs will leave anyway. In a country where you can't make your own socks and underwear working at the Walmart and living on food stamps is what you've reduced your nation to. Congrats, capitalism at work.

But jobs don't leave when you encourage and promote free market capitalism. They thrive and new ones are created. We're looking at about 25 years of either liberal, Keynesian or crony corporatist policies, and that is what is currently driving the economy.

Now, we will either continue this jealous demonization of Walmart and tearing down of free market capitalism to be replaced by European socialism, or we will reject that and return to our convicted core principles of free market liberty and enterprise. But one way or the other, our nation cannot continue to spend close to a half-trillion dollars per fiscal quarter to keep things afloat.

My question is, if liberals have already resigned themselves to the fact that good paying jobs are gone and we are no longer a manufacturing country, why the hell not give something else a shot? Let's try promoting free market capitalism and encouraging entrepreneurial success. Let's lower corporate taxation, encourage people with foreign wealth to bring it back home so they can create new jobs with it. Lower or get rid of the cap gains tax, so people have an inventive to use their wealth creating new business empires. Really... it's all okay if we create a few millionaires and billionaires! That's a GOOD thing! That's what we WANT to happen.[/QUOTE]

First of all, end all immigration and work/student visas immediately. That is the kind of immigration reform we need to protect the American working class.

Then repeal Clinton's NAFTA agreement and put a huge tariff on all imported manufactured goods from China.

I see so Boeing does not develop on their own. Boeing only sells to government contracts. Only government buys aircraft. Who knew?

Boeing is a great example

How about that 747 they created on their own? The Government needed a heavy transport plane. Bigger than anything ever built. They decided to compete the bid and awarded two contracts for a flyoff....Boeing and Lockheed.
Lockheed built a plane called the C-5 and won the contract
Boeing built a design which lost but they turned into the 747

Tell us again how the Government does not create jobs
Where did the money come from that "government" uses to "create" jobs? You think spending my money is you "creating" something? Are you daft?

Government spending tax payer dollars is tax payers buying products. Boeing is a corporation that created the jobs, the people work for Boeing, they are Boeing employees. Selling products to customers are what pays the bills. The company and it's investors create the jobs. But without paying customers they have to fire their employees.
Guess what?

The Government is the chosen representatives of "We the People"
Yes they do spend our money for the benefit of all and YES they do create jobs

Those Boeing employees working on government contracts have jobs thanks to "We the people". Those contracts go away.......so do the jobs

Your getting closer... yes Boeing employees working on government contracts can thank the AMERICAN TAXPAYER for their job. And yes the government employees who selected Boeing for the contract can also thank the AMERICAN TAXPAYER for their job. No part in this situation is government creating anything. Government is a concept not a person, the people in government are working for us and they can THANK US FOR CREATING THEIR JOBS BECAUSE WE ARE THE EMPLOYER OF GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES.
You conveniently skip the part where the Government IS the American taxpayer. They are not the evil entity you so hate. The Government is far from a concept, it is a working body which represents the interests of 300 million people
I see you are backing off your assertion that the Government does not create jobs by trying to shift it to the taxpayer creating jobs. First words of the Constitution......We the People are creating a Government
Where did I say our governmental system is evil? Where did I say all of our government employees are evil? Your straw man is full of shit.

Government is not the taxpayer. The taxpayers are the taxpayers. Some government employees of ours are also taxpayers. Some are not. The "working body" are our employees. They do not effing represent us you ass hole. I represent myself. The ASSHOLE IN THE WHITE HOUSE DOES NOT REPRESENT ME. I voted against him and would rather slap him in the face than have him represent me on any matter.

The best way to raise wages without bankrupting a business is really quite simple.

Automate.

Automate every possible function and lay off as many people as can be replaced by "systems". Then pay for training in systems maintenance for the few remaining workers who show the ability to learn. Pay them very, very well.

But DO NOT explain to the well-paid workers that liberal politicians will tax them mightily to redistribute the fruits of their labour to those who could not or would not learn.

How do we fix poverty if 10s of millions of Americans HAVE NO CHOICE but to accept low wage jobs?

You reach into your pocket and offset their costs. If you think simply handing them money will solve it, try looking at the failures of Johnson's war on poverty and how doing just that didn't work.

What wage problem?
You mean the 10s of millions of Americans who make less than $15 an hour? The fact that 40% of the nation's wealth is owned by the top 1% of earners?
Yeah.

What's the problem?
If you're just going to go into denial mode like a child I am not going to bother with you.

So, you only want people that agree with you to respond?

I've lost my job twice to economic downturns or cutbacks. What I had done is make myself marketable in other areas by having skills outside of the profession I was in. When one door closed, another opened. See how simple that is? If you have a limited skill set, it's not the fault of the system but the one with limited skill sets.

Get a skill learn a trade that has a value beside flipping burgers
Well gee with the way wages are people can't afford to learn a trade. Even if more people were qualified, such jobs would be highly competitive from the millions of low wage workers.
Ever heard of On the Job Training? Better known as OJT? Get paid while you learn.
Good god dude try to pay attention. Low wage jobs outnumber decent wage jobs. That means millions of people have no choice to accept low wage jobs. On top of that, who exactly are fast food companies supposed to employ given that everyone in your perfect world would become over qualified?

Make yourself more marketable.

Liberals haven't. That would involve them actually working. They just want to get paid.

How does artificially increasing the wages through government fix the problem?

One way is to pay them enough that they don't qualify for food stamps. There's an idea.

Maybe you could tell me, what is the benefit to ME by having MW workers paid low enough that they can still get government assistance.

What is my families benefit for this situation?

If they had skills worth making more, they'd get paid more. Don't blame the low pay on the one doing the paying but the one offering low skills.

If their skills are the cause of their skill equivalent low wages, why should they get food stamps? Why should the taxpayers get the bills when the low skilled worker is he cause?
