I am of two minds on the coming election.....

I'm leaning to the latter as well. The MAGA fantasies of "cheating" are just too preposterous. But Dems clearly aren't desperate to win. I think they're trying to score DEI points with their base by nominating Harris, knowing she'll lose. Then, they'll sit back and wait for Trump to make an utter mess of things, to tarnish conservatism irreparably. In four years they'll swoop in to "save" us all with great big gobs of socialism.

I can't argue with you last statement, but if a mess is made in the next 4 years, it will have started during Biden/Harris. If Trump can't fix the Ukraine mess or the Gaza mess, or stop the recession which many experts argue is already in progress, it clearly started in Biden Harris.

But you have it correct in that they will swoop in with gobs of socialism and oppression.

Nice. A premade excuse.

And that's why I can't support Trump.

Interesting. There has never been a more clear distinction between candidates or parties. To each his own.
I don't really buy that, but let's say Trump is secretly a limited-government, libertarian conservative. The problem is that he's not a leader, not a persuader, and would do nothing but shit the bed and give conservative ideas a bad name. If elected, the country will devolve into an ungovernable mess, and the socialists will take over after he limps out of office.

None of that happened during his first term. He did quite well and demonstrated strong leadership particularly with the border and our foreign adversaries. He called or visited foreign leaders directly, stared them in the eye and TOLD THEM to stop their anti-American activities. And they did. His biggest problem was his complete inexperience in politics and trusting the wrong people. That won't happen this time.

It's not brain surgery.....it's very simple :dunno:

You can bet your eye.

Then why did we get Biden?

It does no good to have "your guy" in there, if he's seen as an offensive jackass by half the country. Especially if he makes conservatism look bad in the process. That just insures the other side wins the next round and pulls things back in the other direction.

If the Democrats wanted to lose, then they could have scheduled debates after a Biden nomination. Choosing Walz instead of Shapiro may be less of a party choice and more Shapiro's choice to run in a better year for Democrats.

If they really wanted to win, if they really saw Trump as threat, they'd have nominated a centrist. But they didn't.

First, I clearly said that they "are OK with losing" not that they want to lose. Secondly, I'm talking about the ruling elite of the DNC and not the rank and file voters. If they win, fine, they can start their destructive and oppressive policies now. The problem with that is that there will be a ton of resistance. If they lose and things fall apart under Trump, they can start their destructive and oppressive policies in earnest in 2029 with a people begging for them to do so.

The hole in their plan is that Trump can fix most of the issues unless Congress stops him.

Not a pre-made excuse, you cannot possibly argue that the Ukraine/Russia war, or the Israel/Hamas war, or the high inflation we are experiencing now is Trump's fault.
I think you can pin some of the inflation on him, but I hear you.

Maybe half of the country should focus on what a President DOES and not focus so much on what he TWEETS. You are electing a Commander-In-Chief not a drinking buddy.
Sure. They should. But the President is mostly about what they say and how they lead. And in that regard, Trump is primarily a troll. After decades of sanctimonious liberals' virtue signalling, I get it. I get why many people like to see Trump flipping the bird to the Democrats.

But it doesn't change anything. It doesn't convince people that limited government is better than the ubiquitous state. It doesn't inspire people to take responsibility for themselves, instead of expecting government to solve all their problems. It doesn't make the case for liberty or good government. It doesn't show people why trading equal rights for "equity" is a bad idea.

All it does is piss people off and create ever more division. It leaves them spoiling for revenge and working feverishly to undermine everything the President does.

You are giving a pass the most anti-American Party to ever hold power in the US. Before you can achieve the ideal you have to fix what is totally broken. The Democrats have broken the DOJ, DHS, FBI, CDC and a host of other government agencies. They have made a mockery of the court system to destroy Trump. They also control the vast majority of TV, internet and printed Media. Sitting on the sidelines is essentially a thumbs up to the Regime in power and helps them in the quest for One Party Rule in perpetuity.
