No Tax on Tips is a brilliant political strategy i.e. Trump relates to the rank and file

I've been to Heidelberg. Beautiful city.

You are correct on tips. I work with a person who grew up in Czech and they say tipping is rare.

That said, why was included in this post?
It is about tips as yours was.

My nurse daughter earns pretty close to a hundred thousand a year. She said she makes less now than when she was a waitress.
That's what my nieces said when they gave up their waitressing jobs for full time desk jobs. They had better benefits and opportunity for advancement, but they made a lot less in take home pay.

Promises promises, Last time he gave most of those to his big money donators.
Forgive me for being pessimistic.

You can't give income tax cuts to people who don't pay taxes. If you cut income taxes the people who benefit the most will be the people who pay the majority of the income taxes. Here's a hint it's not poor people paying those taxes, in fact "the poor" likely pay zero income tax, so I'm not sure how they were supposed to benefit from a cut to the income tax.

We often add a tip in cash to contractors at our home who go out of their way to provide exemplary service so they can report that or not as they choose. I don't see why if we give somebody $20 for a Christmas gift it is not taxable but if we add it to their bill as a gratuity it is.

It is taxable, they just don't claim it.

It's sort of like casino winnings. You can win hundreds or thousands of dollars at the poker or blackjack or craps tables or whatever and not owe a dime in taxes. Likewise on the machines if you just win small amounts over time that add up to bigger money it isn't taxable. But if you win $1,000 or more at one time on the machines, the casino is required to report that and you owe taxes. It's really dumb.

It's all taxable.

I suppose that $25 chip you toss to the blackjack dealer now and then is taxable for him or her. I suppose the expected tip the folks who bring your machine winnings to you are taxable too. I wonder how many of those are reported though. It is so based on the honor system there are huge opportunities to cheat. Doing away with the tax on tips for everybody would restore a lot of honesty, integrity, and reduce stress to society I think as well as benefit those who do report their tips.

The rich simply get themselves legal exemptions.

My nurse daughter has just one patient. The Government pays her to care for one disabled boy at the school. When the school closes down, she does not care for him. Taxes pay others to care for him when he is not at school.

I have no clue what taxpayers pay for this kid but believe it has to be around $200,000 per year.

The tax code is written in such a way as to make it worth while to pay someone to find all the loopholes to save you money. If the tax code were simplified people would stop doing that.

"Deficits" is a term used against paycheck to paycheck workers to tell them they are part of a problem, of which they aren't.
