Socialism Creates Poverty

Hell, if we had guaranteed income poor people wouldnt ahve to sorry about getting a job, period. Ever think about that?

so how about having guaranteed jobs?

Frankly, I'd rather have someone doing the work getting paid to do it.

Over the weekend, I had to deal with my e-mail being hacked. SO I called my cable provider. 10 minutes of dealing with machines before I got to a real person who was from India and had no idea what I was talking about.

OH, no real help on my problem, either.

Wow, here's a crazy idea. INstead of Comcast making a shitload of money, how about having a REAL PERSON answering those phones?
The Soviet Union had exactly that system. Everyone had a job. We see how successful that was.

Rags to riches for 99.9 percent is not possible. Never has been. Never will be. Subscribing to that is a bad idea.

Venezuela's Chavez was a big hero of the Left here. He came in with a program of Hope and Change that involved every leftist's wet dream: punish the rich, nationalize industry, screw the big corporations.
How'd that work out?

The country is out of basic necessities. Every adverse event was followed by more and stricter government controls. These in turn led to more problems. Price controls led to people diverting toilet paper across the border.
You cannot legislate laws of economics out of existence. Which is what the left here wants.
Before Chavez, 55% of Venezuela's people lived in poverty. Post Chavez, that number has risen to 70%

They talk about the failure of socialism but where is the success of capitalism in Africa, Asia and Latin America?

- Fidel Castro

Capitalism works well in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore, but Castro is right about Africa and Latin America. Nothing works well there. The standard of living is low.

The World Factbook

The crime rate is high.

Nevertheless, socialized medicine works well in Cuba. The infant mortality rate is lower than in the United States.

The World Factbook

The life expectancy is nearly as high as in the United States.

The closest approximation to democratic socialism is Scandinavian Social Democracy. By most criteria the quality of life there is better than in the United States.
The trade off in Sweden is the confiscatory taxation. Same goes for all the Western European socialist democracies. One other aspect of life in a socialist country where womb to tomb government ( taxpayer) funded goodies are available, is that even the laziest person is rewarded with a comfortable lifestyle.
European worker productivity is nowhere near that of the US. The typical Euro works just 32.5 to 35 hours per week. US workers at least 40

Probably has to do more with the fact that the US and other nations punished his country for having the audacity to want to control their own wealth.

Control their own wealth?
Couple questions......Who's wealth?
Is it your notion that wealth belongs to the government?
Chavez nationalized all major industry. That confiscation was never distributed to the impoverished people of Venezuela. How'd that work out?

So we are to believe that socialism has destroyed the once great economy of Venezuela where capitalism reigned supreme and where poverty rates were the lowest in the world. LMFAO! God you guys crack me up with the stupidest shit. BTW, under Chavez, extreme poverty dropped from 23% to 8%. Still, there are massive economic problems, but to say socialism destroyed a once great economy is laughable. Do not take that to mean that I am a big supporter of socialism, especially the full out state run socialism that exists in Venezuela. That is much different then the capitalistic socialism of Europe.

You make up straw men, also known as shit.
People were much better off in the pre-Chavez era. They werent rationing toilet paper for example. They had foreign exchange to buy imports, for example.
Now they've achieved Democrat paradise: everyone except the political elite are equally poor and miserable. If you want real income equality, move to Venezuela.

Dummy.

We have socialized schools.

Socialized police and emergency services.

Socialized medical for vets, the elderly, and poor families.

Socialized libraries, parks, rivers and lakes.

You'd think with all that socialism, we wouldn't be the 2nd wealthiest country in the world.

Dummy.

We aren't the 2nd Wealthiest country in the world, numskull. The only reason we aren't dead last is the fact that most other countries have much more socialism than what you listed above.

Our government schools suck, so do our police, so does the care for a vets and the elderly. Welfare traps young girls into poverty, the government owned lakes and rivers are polluted, libraries are deserted.

Yeah, socialism is great! It's responsible for all the worst parts of our country.

I mean creating a system where most people barely eked out a living while those with connections lived like Czars.
IOW the Democrat Party's ideal situation.

Actually, most Russians lived better under Communism than they did under the Tsars.

And those party appartecheks might have lived the good life, but nothing compared to the obscene way our wall street assholes live in this country.

Again, a lot more to do with the fact the US has been punishing them for decades.

You talk like that's a bad thing.

I mean, it would be wonderful if we enjoyed great rewards for working that 40 hours a week. a lot of us don't.

I know how the Czechs lived under communism, and I have heard very very few who want to go back. They are living far better today than their parents and grandparents and enjoy much greater freedom in every conceivable way.

That bird has flown, and good riddance.

Again, the Czechs are the doormats to anyone who wants to wipe their feet on you. The Hapsburgs, the Nazis, The Communists and now big corporations.

No one ever cared what the Czechs thought.
