It always works, sometimes the corporations (especially the multinational ones which I feel should be severely curtailed) take advantage of their workers, but the workers can always leave. Well I'd probably not be so fast to talk about the failures of socialism when most of the major nations operate using some kind of socialism. Conflating what happened to a nation that was ruled by a dictator until recently making it a dictatorship and not socialist is kinda misleading. Conservatism has never worked. trickle down has always failed. OBTW there are staring people here. Maybe more than in Venezuela.

The best run country's do so with a mix of socialistic, and capitalistic philosophy's. I have always advocated for that. The problem is when the balance swings too far towards the socialist side. That's when the mass murders begin.

The top quartiles at least 1,000 per month. Bonuses are not permanent wage increases. So you catch up. Then go learn what a real wage increase is.

When it required more people to pay for insurance plans that didn't afford them health care,
but either cost them more money per month to get signed up, or else cost them fines on top of their health care costs?

In that case, the corporate insurance companies got their handouts from govt as part of the deal,
in order to get support from them to pass this. They got paid out of our tax dollars.
But the people were expected to pay for our own insurance and didn't get help to pay for that requirement.

Wasn't THAT a worse example of throwing the people a bone while
Congress and corporate interests lived high off the hog? At taxpayer expense?

Regardless, I find it astonishing that someone who claims to care about the middle class would deny them that 1200 or so dollars. An amount that to them is significant. The rich don't really care, over all about the tax break, the corporations do, and those corporations employ tons of people, and make things, so for them the tax deal is very, very good. But the middle class, those who you claim to care about can actually USE that 1200 or so dollars.

Why would you, who claims to be retired, begrudge a significant boon to them? You whine about the rich getting a big break, and I grant you it is a big break, but it doesn't significantly alter their lifestyle, but 1200 bucks, to a lower middle class family, DOES alter their lifestyle.
