Vatican court head: No communion for Nancy Pelosi

How little do you understand Catholic doctrine (& yes I am Catholic). Support for a sin is a sin & grounds for the Church to make a moral determination. And a persons occupation has little to do with the matter at hand. We are talking about Church rules on a sacramental matter. Pelosi doesn't receive immunity just because of her job.

Oozing steaming Bullshit.

"Support" for an idea is not a sin. Feel free to demonstrate how it is. Because now you're delving into mind control.

Moreover, her job as Representative , as any Rep, is to represent her constituents. That means she speaks for their interests, not necessarily her own.

This is a non starter. It always has been.

Your trying to argue a legal point over a spiritual matter...I have indeed reached the end of the Internet. The Church has always been about faith & ideas. Ever hear of a sin of omission? If you support abortion regardless of your job, then you are guilty. The Church does not support abortion period & has been rather clear on it. Maybe you should just pay attention to what they are actually saying vs just you want to hear.

There is no spiritual matter. The Church's position and Pelosi's position are apples and oranges. They are unrelated. They have nothing to do with each other.

Pelosi's job, as is any Representative's job, is to represent and speak for the constituents that elect her. To cast her vote and voice as a proxy for them. What she votes on abortion, or any other issue, reflects that duty. To stretch that all the way to imagining Pelosi herself had an abortion is beyond absurdly ridiculous.

And no, there's no such thing as a "sin of omission" in the Catholic Church, excepting stuff like the Easter duty. You can't commit a sin by failing to jump up and protest abortion law, even though that's not the wish of your constituents, just because you're in a position to. That's positively retarded.

As I said, this chuch coercion bullshit is just that. Pseudopolitical fast food fodder for the feeble minded who cannot think their way out of the proverbial paper bag. Like this cardinal dipshit desperately attention-whoring for his fifteen minutes of fame.

Again, it's a non-issue and a non-starter. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen.

Interesting.

I know this has been an on again, off again subject for debate over the years... Should the Catholic Church allow abortion supporters to have communion or not... It seems that the answer has been given... at least for now.

No communion for Nancy Pelosi: Vatican court head - Washington Times

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has no Catholic right to be granted Communion, said the leading cardinal of the highest court at the Vatican.

Mrs. Pelosi should be denied Communion until she changes her advocacy views on abortion, Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke said, according to the Western Center for Journalism.

That’s canon law, not opinion, he said. Canon 915 states that Catholics who are stubbornly contrary “in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”

And Cardinal Burke said Mrs. Pelosi fits the definition.

“Certainly this is a case when Canon 915 must be applied,” he said, the Western Center for Journalism reported. “This is a person who obstinately, after repeated admonitions, persists in a grave sin — cooperating with the crime of procured abortion — and still professes to be a devout Catholic.”

The cardinal also said that Mrs. Pelosi is a perfect example of Catholics who separate their faith from day-to-day living.

“This is a prime example of what Blessed John Paul II referred to as the situation of Catholics who have divorced their faith from their public life and therefore are not serving their brothers and sisters in the way that they must — in safeguarding and promoting the life of the innocent and defenseless unborn, in safeguarding and promoting the integrity of marriage and the family,” he said.

No soup for you, Nancy...!

I honestly wish the Catholic Clergy spent as much time worrying about pedophile priests as they spend worrying about what women are doing with their lady parts.

They don't give soup at communion....it's more like bread

Apparently there are still some who can't grasp the concept of "Representative"...

Oh btw about that 5th commandment thing --- look up the history of the Church's definition of when life begins, over the years.
Oops.

Apparently you can't grasp any concepts at all.

Paul Ryan on Ayn Rand

Mike Wallace: “You are out to destroy almost every edifice of the contemporary American way of life, our Judeo-Christian religion, our modified government regulated capitalism, our rule by majority will. Other reviews have said you scorn churches and the concept of God. Are these accurate criticisms?”

Ayn Rand: “Yes”

Paul Ryan declares Devotion to AYN RAND in Videos, WOW!!! - Rachel Maddow

------------------------------

I remember when the Catholic Church helped the poor. I guess not anymore. They go after Nancy Pelosi but not Paul Ryan? I don't get it.

Do you understand the difference between communion and charity?

Didn't think so.

By the way, that video had Maddow blathering throughout the whole thing, and criticizing Ryan for not being her version of a fiscal conservative. If he actually declared devotion to anyone, it was blathered over by the pompousness ass.

Screw the Pope, the clerics and the theocracy of the Catholic Church. You don't need them to have a relationship with God.
Same goes for the Protestant groups.

The Church cannot deny any sacrament to a supplicant who maintains a given position in good faith.

Moreover, one can both maintain moral opposition to abortion in accordance with Church dogma while at the same time respect the secular rule of law and the Constitutional right to privacy.

The Vatican’s unwarranted meddling demonstrates the wisdom of the Framers and their requirement that church and state remain separate.

You are a fucking expert on church law now? Do you have Supreme Court decisions to back that up, or should I just assume you are dumber than dog shit?

It is a badge of honor. Nancy should wear it with pride!

She should wear faithlessness and hypocrisy with pride? You MUST be a liberal.

Pelosi is NOT in a position of a good faith.

And you of course are the one to judge that.

She supports all sorts of things that contradict the teachings of her religion, they have every right to deal with her however they see fit.

One, abortion is a medical procedure, and murder is a legal term.

Two, the cardinal in the diocese which Pelosi holds membership will make that decision, if it is even considered.

One is irrelevant, and two is flat out wrong. Under Church law, those decisions are made by the Vatican, not a local priest. That is to prevent local priests from abusing their power and denying people communion just because they don't like them.

This new progressive pope must be making some hypocritical catholics just nuts. They're fine with child molesters but hate pro-lifers.

They must get dizzy keeping it all straight.

I am pretty sure they just laugh at the idiots that think the Pope is progressive.

Same goes for the Protestant groups.

Actually it goes for all organized religion. They are just the middle men looking to make a buck.
The problem with Nancy Pelosi is that she claims to be Catholic. As such, she should adhere to the church's policies, when she goes against church policy, the church is well within their right to withhold the sacraments from her. Nancy is just being her hypocritical self.

I agree with you, and I am sure CCJ does as well.

What you don't get is that Pelosi's ecclesiastical superior in her diocese makes that decision, not Rome.

You don't get how the Church works do you? The Vatican runs things from the center & not usually the local level. Especially when it comes to matters of faith.

The cardinal's opinion in Rome does not trump the religious superior in Pelosi's diocese.

She will not be banned from communion.

Yes it does, and yes she will.

Yes politicians have to do as their public demands and have membership in a religion of the USA, except the bad ones.

Holy Crap! She cannot eat a little piece of bread or drink some wine and church.
Hell the world will end.
What a joke of an OP!
