Why Are The Mormons Having A War On Masturbation?

Who is suggesting you should feel fear or shame? ...

Presumably anyone who buys into the relevant dictates laid out unambiguously by some of the so-called 'prophets', apostles, and Bishops of your Faith.

...BTW if you are experiencing guilt about something, that's usually an indication that you did something wrong.

Either that, or it's an indication that on some level you've bought into the bullshit that labelled what you did as wrong, despite the perfectly natural and healthy nature of the activity in question.

Yes, because *safe* sex isn't very safe.

A lot of us tell our children to stick to that goal. It's a good goal. Reduces the likelihood of pregnancy and STD transmission.

I know. Amazing.

Safe sex is very safe, not 100%, but it's very safe. And it's more realistic than preaching abstinence. You should go look at the stats for abstinence.

Mormons are also against healthy sex, even "safe" sex, unless you're married. And that's probably why the average age for getting married, until recently, was 18, in the Mormon Church.

In fairness, the average age for Mormon wedlock had long been held artificially low by the likes of Brian David Mitchell and Warren Jeffs (of FLDS fame), until the recent crackdown by forces largely outside of the Church. ;)

If memory serves, I think Joseph Smith himself had a number of 'child-brides'.

why exactly do you think a completely different church and organization has any influence on Mormons? That's like saying Lutheran divorce rates affect catholic divorce rates. They are completely unrelated groups

Yes, well, I'll take that with a grain of salt, as it comes from the board member who thinks that pornography is sex ed and porn addiction is the only way to keep young men from turning into serial rapists.

The stats clearly show that since the advent of sex education in our schools, the out of wedlock rate has increased, the std transmission rate has increased, sex abuse of minors has increased, and abortion has increased.

Well done! You guys really fixed things!

Porn is poisoning the hearts and minds of people and makes it difficult if not impossible for them to have reasonable expectations in a relationship. It destroys lives and families.

I personally think porn is disgusting. It's never done anything for me. I think it's gross to watch two people, who probably don't know each other, fake orgasms. But it is a fact that males are more visual than females. And most young men do watch porn, and I'm sure they are not all addicted to porn. It's a tool for masturbation. I'm all for it, it's 100% safe. No STD's, and no unplanned pregnancies.

Oh awesome. So you agree that young men should take steps to avoid porn addiction, and help their friends who they may think have a problem with it.

Awesome! You agree with the video in the OP then.

Using complete sentences and descriptive words will help.

id love to see the stats for how many people caught an std by not having sex. Or how many pregnancies between people who did not have sex. This should be enlightening

I'm so relieved that there are people like Carla around ready and willing to encourage our children to masturbate.

Good grief.

Not only did I encourage them to masturbate, when they became teens, (around 17 yrs of age) I made them wear a condom necklace around their necks.

My daughter is no Bristol Palin, that's for sure! LOL!

So how do you know Bristol Palin wasn't allowed to masturbate?

No I don't, and I never said that, DingDong. I think in this case, porn is a tool used for masturbation. I'm all for it. It's 100% safe.

Oh, so you agree that porn addiction is cool and we should encourage it.

Got it.

I don't know that. I only know that Sarah and Briston went out preaching abstinence after Bristol had an unplanned teen pregnancy.

Well, you should google it. Abstinence isn't realistic or effective.

Where did the OP get the war on masturbation crap?

It's more about an unhealthy obsession with porn and the internet to the point of interfering with the kid's life.

Jeebus H Chryst, can you not read or follow a conversation? I would like a link showing how sex ed causes everything you listed, above.

What the heck do you think the boy is doing out in the woods....playing bingo? The only thing we know for certain, is it's the Church and the young man's roommates who are interfering with his life. Most people who view porn are not addicted to it.
