Ben Carson Moves Toward Presidential Run

No, the left had no problem demonizing Condoleeza Rice as Aunt Jemima, or Colin Powell as Uncle Tom. They get away with it all the time.

Well you should be able to link when an elected Democratic Official was doing that.

Thanks in advance.

Why do you change what he said and narrow it down to "an elected Democratic Official", when he clearly said "the left"?

Okay, just kidding, we all know why.

.

I "narrow" it down like that because it is seldom done by most responsible people on the left.

It's is however, BAU for the right.

I can find a plethora of comments from elected Republican officials that should know better.

But don't.

the Left cant stand a Black man that isnt asking for a handout; or pandering to people telling them they need to be asking for handouts

They'd really have to walk a fine line with him.

They'd want to infer that he's a Tom and a fraud to discredit him, but I'd bet there are plenty of blacks and independents who would be turned off by that crap.

That would be amazing to watch.

Why do rightwingers persist on talking about guys who will never be president as if they have some serious chance of being elected?

So you thought a half black, muslim, community organizer and socialist would become one?...but an accomplished Real black man with a solid religious background wouldn't!...:cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:

Do you want to bet $1000 that Ben Carson will be nominated? Will you have a job by then, so you can raise the money?

Ten? Nine wouldn't be enough?

I'm not your fucking research assistant.

If you had an ounce of intellectual curiosity, you would look it up yourself. Here:

Google

I'm confident you would find examples of that and similar behavior, IF you were curious.

Which I know you are not.

I can't wait until I catch you asking someone for a link.

So as far as you know there is no evidence that liberals on USMB have called Rice 'aunt Jemima' on a regular basis,

but you're still willing to claim that is a common enough occurrence on the left to be able to be classified under the broad brush of 'the left does it'?

That sounds stupid to me.

I don't know whose post you're responding to, since I have never said that "liberals on USMB have called Rice 'Aunt Jemima' on a regular basis." Can you not communicate without straw man arguments like that? Completely made up out of thin air.

My point, which is nowhere near where you have taken it, is that it would be fascinating to see the Left painting Carson as a Tom and a sellout (which JoeB is more than happy to do if you ask, and which Rabbi provided a video, above, of such behavior), and how effective that would be in a national presidential campaign. I wonder if there would be some blowback on that from some blacks and independents, and I'd really be looking forward to finding out. I'd also be fascinated to see what percentage of the black vote that Carson would pull.

Now, if your claim is that such a thing would not happen, that the Left would not try to paint him as a Tom and a sellout (again I refer you to JoeB and the video mentioned above) then I'll just chalk that up to standard-issue partisan denial.

Please play your straw man games with someone who enjoys that stuff, thanks.

Rabbi's video shows Cornel West, who is one of the more radical folks on the left, making those statements. He's not going to win any elections and is generally trotted out because of his radical views. And pointing to JoeB, who started out here as a right wing guy that slowly evolved in his thinking, really isn't helping your case much.

Personally when I listen to politicians talking about policy? The last thing that comes to my mind is their race or ethnicity.

I saw Ben Carson on Meet the Press on Sunday. Right along with Rince Preibus they almost immediately started yammering about Benghazi. Carson said the "deaths of 4 diplomats" which of course was never corrected by David Gregory. Along with his other nonsense.

It's amazing they get away with so much garbage on the Sunday shows.

And yet, when Susan Rice said 'they didn't have all the information is but with what they knew at that moment ...', it immediately became the final word on the matter.

Actually when Obama spouted the same lie 2 weeks later it became the final word on the matter.

Face it, you oppose Carson because he's an accomplished black man.

No...he would be opposed for being a hypocrite on welfare while having zero governing experience at all.

It's sad how everyone has made this about his race...left and right are just throwing out everything they can so they can scream racism now.

I don't know if you really don't understand this or (far more likely) you're just being obtuse. I'll try one last time.

Hardcore left-wingers like West and hardcore right-wingers like Palin say crazy things and the other side jumps on it, points at it and positions that person as representative of the other side. I wonder if we could at least stipulate to that, but who knows.

So, when that would happen with Carson, I wonder if there would be any blowback, if some blacks and independents would be turned off. Or, more likely, how MUCH blowback there would be.

This really doesn't need to be so difficult to understand. It's possible to have an honest conversation in which you can be candid about some on your "side" and try some independent critical analysis that is not polluted by partisan ideology.

Your head would not explode, I swear.

Palin was run as Vice President and she actually got elected in Alaska as the state's governor. West didn't get elected to anything.
