Kamala Harris: "I am NOT a Democratic Socialist"

fallacies of false Cause is what the right wing is best at.
Being a blind ideologue is what you are best at.
I am not using the term socialism to appeal to emotion.

We have a command economy; Government is socialism.

Hoover Dam is a public sector means of production.
Government subject to the will of a republic is not socialism.
Kommie Harris is a socialist as she’s a democrat. Now try to respond with points. I dare you.
yes, it is; why do you believe it isn't?

Okay, this will be interesting.

Sen. Kamala Harris: ‘I Am Not a Democratic Socialist’

Whereas GOP lines were drawn between the Trumpsters and Never Trumpsters in 2016, it looks like Democratic candidates may have to clarify where they are on this issue.

It will be fascinating to watch, and hopefully some real definitions of the term will surface as a result of the attention it will be given. For a change.
.

Dude, NO. It's going to be just another media shit show. Why do you encourage these particular topics? Is it boredom?

In a nutshell the Democrats goal is to split up the progressive wing--Bernie, Kamala, Elizabeth and Tulsi ( who they won't even mention anymore) and nominate Joe Biden.

:th_dontgosmiley-1: Well I guess that was a thread killer.

Socialistic government calls the shots. Representative government is always in flux, subject to the will of the people. Dems want government to determine practically everything.

She says so, therefore she's not?

By their fruits shall you know them.
That wasn't my point, of course.

The last two lines were.

It's curiosity. Honest intellectual curiosity, while frowned upon by the ends of our political spectrum, is still allowed. At least for now.

They embraced him because he is like AOC. The new breed graduating from colleges. You guys and your progressive socialist religion are the future Jim Jones inevitable result. The Kool Aid you have been drinking is a slow death one. We don't need no stinkin jobs.

Okay, let's not get hysterical here.

If the new breed graduating college is more receptive to the message of a guy like Bernie, then we have no one to blame but ourselves. We've essentially turned these kids into indentured servants to get the basic ticket into the middle class.

When I went to UIC back in the 1980's, tuition was $1500 a year, or you could pay for it working a min wage job 10 hours a week. Today, UIC costs $20,000 a year to go to. You could work 40 hours a week at min wage and not pay for it.

I personally don't care for Bernie, I think he goes too far in some areas, but man, after 27 years of working for abusive companies, I can definitely see the appeal.

Since the late 1970s, white males in non-supervisory positions didn't get a pay raise in real terms. All the while, health care costs and tuition, as you say, exploded, putting health care and college out of reach for ever growing numbers at the lower rungs, or reducing them to indentured servitude.

Bernie, warts and all, is just the logical consequence thereof, and, perhaps more importantly, he can't be bought by the moneyed interests who brought the above-outlined developments about. Harris, or so it appears, doesn't want to be seen associated with the efforts to reverse them. Whether that's a winning strategy remains to be seen. I, for one, am looking forward to the U.S. catching up to pretty much the rest of the developed world. If that were to doom Harris's (or Booker's) prospects - for she'd end up on the wrong side of history as it is currently written - I couldn't care less.

Not really. No one embraced Bernie because he was a socialist. They embraced him because he wasn't Hillary.

Unlike the Trump Davidians, the influence of "Democratic Socialists" has been largely blown out of proportion.
...and socialism is a fucked up concept.

Talking points? We have a Constitution.

Government solves all problems for the right wing; but they allege they are for "true Capitalism".

For conservatives, government beyond infrastructure and military is an impediment.

Government and the military as organizations, are public sector means of production.

I propose many of the rich Hollywood stars and TV shills move to the poor inner city areas. For perspective. Hell, I even propose that the elected people in Congress voted in move into the poverty area that voted for them.
