More Than Half of Democrats Dont know the Earth Circles the Sun

More Than Half Of Democrats Do Not Know The Earth Revolves Around The Sun Once a Year | Independent Journal Review
The National Science Foundation published a study that reveals an astonishing number of Democrats do not know that the earth revolves around the sun and that it takes a year to do so.
For most Americans who have had any kind of science education, even if their formal schooling ended after the first or second grade, the concept of a solar system in which the sun is the center has long been considered “settled science.” Yet more than half of Democrats are apparently unaware that the earth goes around the giant glowing ball in the sky once a year.

Conservative Republicans were most likely to know this gradeschool fact about the “solar system,” while Republicans and conservatives as groups best moderates and Democrats. Various kinds of Liberals, earning those higher education sheepskins, are aware of the basic fact.

Furthermore, 49% percent of Democrats believe that astrology is scientific.

And notice the RINO position at dead last, bottom of the fucking barrel.

Sure essplains a lot.

This is a lie.

RE: belief astrology is scientific
"Furthermore, 49% percent of Democrats believe that astrology is scientific. Let me look into your future: another four years of jobs lost, poor economic growth, and finger-pointing!

Seriously though, Republicans aren’t as likely to believe that astrological signs can tell you what kind of cat to choose or if you should forget the elections this November (Uranus is in Ares, Democrats, better watch out). In addition, 48.1% of Moderates believe that astrology is scientific, followed by 36.9% for Republicans.
=====================================
C'mon now. Republicans at 36.9% weren't THAT far behind the Dems at 49%
(of whoever claimed to be what in this poll).

I have a good Republican friend I would love to see elected President
who still admits he has always interpreted 6 days in the Bible as literally 6 days.

The liberal media would slam him for that!

Or can you imagine a poll of liberal Dems vs. conservatives on
Constitutional issues and history? like where did separation of church and state
come from; what's in the First and Second Amendments;
or the issue of "due process" that was challenged in Roe v. Wade;
or the separate of state and federal govt; when was the Federal Reserve
created; or when were Corporations recognized by courts as persons?

Now THAT would be revealing! if not horrifying.
I would probably flunk because I'm a Democrat.

Greens might get the corporate personhood question right.
Libertarians would get the Federal Reserve questions.

lol, yeah the Obama Regime is out to slander Democrats, lol.

If Obama came out of the closet and announced he was gay, they'd change the constitution and let him serve another 20 years. No kidding.

I'm waiting to start hearing claims that it's racist to only let Obama serve two terms.

Sorry, but this is a ridiculously partisan thread. A person can have strong political convictions, yet not dredge up pointless articles whose sole function is to insult and anger other people. What this does is invite even more pointless threads as revenge, which gets this vicious cycle spinning even hotter. The best thing we can do is not take bait threads like these seriously, regardless of partisan trappings.

"The Independent Review (TIR), subtitled A Journal of Political Economy, is a peer-reviewed quarterly interdisciplinary journal devoted to the study of political economy and the critical analysis of government policy. It is published by The Independent Institute, a libertarian think tank in the United States, and the articles it publishes are generally written from a libertarian perspective.[2] The journal was created in 1996.[2]"

Why was the study not linked in either the OP or in the IR link?

You will have to ask the author of the article.

As to why I didn't link it, I thought it easy game and didn't bother.

But here you go since you asked.

http://www.nsf.gov/statistics/seind14/content/chapter-7/c07.pdf

Thanks for the link. In a quick perusal I noted no comments about Democrats or Republicans and many comments on "most Americans". Please copy and past the statement which offers proof that the OP conclusion / statement is accurate and the demographics (not noted in your link), i.e. who was interviewed, how and where.

Since the OP must have read and understood the entire document - or why else print it with such a definitive conclusion - s/he has had time to answer my simple questions. Hence, I must call balderdash.

It's partisan, but it may give us a glimpse as to why the Dimocrat party concentrates so much of their focus on promising government handouts. The party must know that if they can bring the idiots into their tent, they will never lose big elections. And the best way to get the attention of these morons is to create laws and programs that guarantee these fools the government will be their mommy.

The downside is, you water your party down so heavily with idiots, your entire party eventually takes on their face.

You never know, maybe he actually is gay. It wouldn't surprise me, the way he makes gay rights seem more important than national security issues.

Hi DD would you sign and promote a petition that the Democrat party be responsible for paying for all the entitlement programs for its members who vote for their leaders?
and shift ACA and all such programs to the parties, and let members choose their administrative management to whom their taxes go according to their registration, like tithes to a church. why not recognize political parties as political religions or beliefs?
that is hw they act, so why not hold them responsible for their own programs and agenda, and keep these out of federal govt except where all parties agree is constitutional duty.

see my previous msg, about polling Dems vs GOP
on Constitutional knowledge of laws and procedures.
THAT is where you have liberals and Democrat followers
depending on political party for power instead of invoking the Constitution.

people's beliefs are as different as Christians who invoke laws by the Bible
and those who don't. so why not separate these groups and not force
one ideology on opponents of dissenting or conflicting beliefs. isn't that
unconstitutional by religious freedom and equal protection of the laws
from discrimination by creed? why not write up a resolution to separate party from govt?

They forgot to survey the vast majority of conservatives who still think the earth is flat and that it's only 6000 years old.

White House Confirms Reagans Follow Astrology, Up to a Point - NYTimes.com

A leading Republican strategist, with close ties to the White House, said the reports would not be damaging to the President. But others said the disclosures revealed a character trait in the President and his wife that had remained largely hidden to the public.

Balderdash, senseless, stupid, or exaggerated talk or writing; nonsense. Exactly an apt description of the OP.

Q. "More Than Half of Democrats Dont know the Earth Circles the Sun?"

A. There is no evidence to prove more than half of all Democrats don't know the Earth circles the Sun. This thread as posted is a lie! Otherwise, the author of the OP would provide probative evidence millions of Democrats were asked the question and half of them plus one answered as stated in the OP.

Q. Why do right wingers lie?

A. That's complicated. Many of them are too stupid to know that they lie. Most simply parrot the propaganda they hear on AM Radio or on Fox News; others lie by omission (half truths) and others by passing on rumors, innuendos and echo those who assassinate the character of anyone who fails to adhere to the dogma of modern far right conservatism.

An awful lot of work went into Q/A crap to try to deflect from embarrassment at having had an entire belief system (sun around earth) shattered.
