I agree with that. It would be completely unworkable, but it's the only way to be consistent and preserve equal rights. It should be all or none. But just handpicking a few favorites is horrible government. Special rights for special people is bullshit.
It was needed when the discrimination was systemic and local government mandated. We are past that point now but they keep coming up with new things to apply the outdated laws to.
To me the line in the sand is when you run a business that invites the public onto your property without reservations or permission. At that point you are a PA and transactions you perform are covered under PA laws. What you don't lose is your right to decline contracted work for events with a specific theme or connotation you don't want to participate in.
My example would be a hotel. A hotel should not be able to deny rooms to anyone, even people ATTENDING a SSM, but they should be able to deny using one of their conference rooms to HOST a SSM if it goes against their morals.
