Should Trump Trial Go Direct To Supreme Court?

The charges would have been brought even sooner if he was not running.

Trump is a political gangster and will pay the price for that.

No bullshit the fact the judge and da do not care that the verdict will be over turned and all they wanted is a felony conviction to politically pin on trump.

You...you speak for Judge Merchan? You claim to know what the judge wants?

Do you know judge Merchan? Had he told you this? Or are you just imagining it?

Irrelevant. The trial was broken down and showed you why the verdict will be overturned. Possibly fast tracked to the supreme Court.

So your assessments of what Judge Merchan wants and is motivated by are irrelevant.

I agree!

And how was the trial 'broken down'? And what basis would the Supreme Court overturn a NY State criminal case?

Watch the video numbnuts or not the verdict will be overturned.

The HOUR long video that you've never watched? Um, why?

If you're directing me to a source you've never looked at, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
You want to be educated on why it will be overturned correct?
Watch the video

What 'education' are you offering me? Either you've never watched the video, and have no idea what it contains. Or you have watched it and learned so little than you can't cite a single basis for why the Supreme COurt would overturn the ruling.

Either way, where's the 'education'? It clearly didn't teach you anything useful. As you still have no idea why the case would be overturned.

Merchan let the jury pick and choose which charge or charges they thought applied. That's how the misdemeanors were elevated to felonies. I don't think that's the jury's responsibility. From what I read, when presented with multiple charges like that, they have to be unanimous on all charges.

The mission here, IMO, was to get Trump found guilty at whatever means necessary, so they can do what they're doing now......they know the appeals would happen way down the road, so dem's have nothing to lose, everything to gain with a bogus trial.
So, how did they vote? All 12 thought Trump was guilty in all of the three? 😁

Again, if that were true there's no need for the jury instruction is there?

The bottom line is this.

This was a purely political prosecution. If Trump weren't running for President, it would not have been brought, like all the other cases currently pending. You're ok with it because of who is being prosecuted in this particular case. Im not because I know that means matter. You may think we are "saving the democracy" by doing this but I know we are killing it. Hopefully the NY appellate courts know this as well and overturns the conviction though I'm not sure that will actually fix what has been broken.

BTW you are a fool

The indictment and a related "statement of facts" in the case do not name the second crime that turns the misdemeanor records charge into a felony.
The indictment mentions repayment to Cohen.
For what, dingbat?
We know Cohen paid Stormy and pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations for doing so.
That is the scheme in question. That’s why so many testified to its details. Can you not see that?

The jury instructions contain everything you need to know.

You just don’t care to know them.

Do you honestly believe these charges are brought if Trump isn’t running to get elected President?
Since the impending indictment was communicated to trump BEFORE he decided to run...

Then, yes. You ask these questions like you are honestly curious, when you aren't. It's rhetorical pap that everyone else has to debunk.

And apparently you missed Gym Jordan's failed attempt a year ago to try on the same bullshit talking point. But since we are all so used to seeing his bullshit investigations fall on their faces spectacularly, you probably don"t even remember.

What is the New York election law at the center of Trump's hush money trial?

“Merchan told jurors that the prosecutors only need to prove that Trump had the intent to commit or conceal another crime, rather than prove the other crime was committed or aided.

Prosecutors allege that Trump falsified the records to hide a violation of New York Election Law Section 17-152 – a rarely used law that prohibits groups from using unlawful means to influence an election.

"Under our law, a person is guilty of such a conspiracy when, with intent that conduct be performed that would promote or prevent the election of a person to public office by unlawful means, he or she agrees with one or more persons to engage in or cause the performance of such conduct,
" he said.

Prosecutors offered three theories about the unlawful means -- a tax crime, falsification of bank records or campaign finance violations. According to Merchan, the jury does not need to agree which of the three unlawful means was employed to convict the former president.

"Although you must conclude unanimously that the defendant conspired to promote or prevent the election of any person to a public office by unlawful means, you need not be unanimous as to what those unlawful means were," Merchan told jurors.“

SECTION 17-152
Conspiracy to promote or prevent election
Election (ELN) CHAPTER 17, ARTICLE 17, TITLE 1

§ 17-152. Conspiracy to promote or prevent election. Any two or more
persons who conspire to promote or prevent the election of any person to
a public office by unlawful means and which conspiracy is acted upon by
one or more of the parties thereto, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.

It should be obvious now.
