Obama had most of the media in his lap excep for Fox News and AM Talk radio. So the critique from the media as a whole to Obama was in inverse proportion to what Trump gets. That said, for what little criticism overall Obama received happened to come from Fox and antiquated AM radio, Obama didn’t throw a tantrum abd call them fake.... he threw a tantrum and tried to hurt them with “the Fairness Doctrine”.

Uh he did many times he would call any critical story of him or his administration just a FOX News story I.e. fake news he did the same with conservative talk radio he did this even though the vast majority of the media gave him positive coverage and downplayed or outright ignored any scandals or negative stories about him and his administration. Yes, Carter gave us the Department of Education but look what all measures Nixon saddled us with: wage and price controls, double nickel national speed limit, founded the EPA and OSHA, tossed Taiwan under the bus, appointed 3 of the 7 Supreme Court justices that sided with Roe over Wade.

Liberals in Washington like Teddy Kennedy had no use for Carter. Carter's position was sort of halfway between Trump's as a total outsider and that of a mainstream Democrat Washington insider. I think Carter suffered a bit from the media for being that outsider. Not even in the ballpark compared to Trump, but a very wee bit that provides enough that he can sympathize.

Obama was calling Fox News 'Fake News' even before he won in 2008. The moment he got sober after partying his ass off when he won the nomination....he went on an anti-Fox News tear.
