Conservatives’ Deny Facts and Forget History, But It Won’t Help

You can bet your ass(ets) that the left wishes that the Washington Post still had the power to bring down a republican administration with an anonymous unverified Informant who's identity wasn't revealed until he was dead and could no longer verify his salacious information. Imagine if the Washington Post had an informant in the Clinton White House. What a freaking trip that would have been but alas, Clinton was a member of the protected democrat party. What would have happened if a card carrying NRA reporter had an informant deep inside the Clinton administration? How long would the MSM allow him to last? One half of the liberal anti-republican Watergate Washington Post team was the son of card carrying communists and was raised to hate Richard Nixon who had been a HUAC prosecutor but nobody noticed that the Washington Post might have had a serious left wing political agenda.? The bottom line is that an unverified anonymous informant employed by the media brought down the Nixon administration and true to form, establishment career republicans caved in. The problem for the left wing these days is that they are still playing by the wishful fantasy playbook established in the 60's when News Anchors were kings. Left wing nut cases don't seem to understand that Americans are smarter than the dorky CNN people in the age of information and democrats haven't won a meaningful election in the last decade.
Yet another Moron who has its Avie of a Cow being attacked by a Dog...thus deeming your prose into the Garbage Can of Dung
You almost gotta laugh at the profound lack of ability of the ignorant left to engage in a rational political argument. The poster must be a college professor.

The conservatives’ denial of facts is well known, and their memory of history is typically faulty.

Those old enough to remember Nixon’s Watergate scandal also remember conservatives back then believed the investigation was a “witch hunt”, just as conservatives today are calling the collusion between Big Orange’s campaign/administration and the Russians “fake news”.

But, as the months have worn on, investigators are learning more and more facts. And, with the incriminating confessions by a certain individual actually involved in the scandal, even devoted Republicans will soon be forced to admit there is an extremely foul odor coming from the current GOP administration.

On Tuesday, Senator John McCain finally broke from the pack of Big Orange’s defenders, this happened after Trump Jr.'s confession of collusion came out in the NYT. " ‘Another shoe just dropped,’ McCain told a CNN reporter outside a Senate office in Washington. ‘There'll be many more shoes that drop.’ "

Also during his statements, McCain said this of the growing collusion scandal, " ‘We've seen this movie before. It's reaching Watergate size and scale. This is not good for the country.’ "

Former assistant Watergate special prosecutor Jill Wine-Banks, a proven expert in recognizing corruption, had this to say, " ‘This is an astounding thing. It is collusion with a foreign adversary if they were working together to get the information from the Russian government.’ "

Then, in her statement concerning the additional information provided by Big Orange’s oldest son, and that contained in the email sent by music publicist Rob Goldstone, Wine-Banks continued, " ‘And that's what this looks like, it looks like clear proof of collusion.’ "

But all is not lost for the Big Orange Idiot. He has plenty of patsies who can take the fall, leaving him able to resign the presidency and receive a pardon from a “friendly” new president. But, this can only happen if Pence can beat-the-rap for his part in the scandal. But he must provide useful information to Mueller, and as his reward, his crimes will be ignored.

In addition to the parallels with the crimes of Watergate, Nixon’s scandal can also be seen as an example of what is to come for those who will throw themselves on their swords to protect Big Orange.

For conservatives who have forgotten the history of Watergate, of the twenty-five Watergate defendants tried, there were only a handful who actually went to prison. John N. Mitchell served nineteen months for conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and lying under oath. H. R. Haldeman served eighteen months for perjury, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice. John D. Ehrlichman served eighteen months for conspiracy to obstruct justice and perjury in the Watergate case, and of conspiracy in the Daniel Ellsberg case. Charles W. Colson served seven months for obstruction of justice and other offenses. E. Howard Hunt served thirty-three months for burglary, conspiracy and wiretapping. Egil Krogh Jr. served four months for a conspiracy conviction in the Daniel Ellsberg case. Herbert W. Kalmbach served six months and was fined $10,000 for various offenses. Jeb Magruder served seven months for conspiracy to obstruct justice. James W. McCord Jr. served only four months for the Atergate break-in after a plea agreement where he implicated the White House.

The above list should offer hope of equally light sentences for the few who will eventually be convicted for collusion, obstruction, etc. Trump Jr. is definitely a goner, his big mouth is very much to blame for the sudden rush of evidence coming out. While Kushner, “the weasel”, on the other hand, will likely escape prison time if he pays an enormous fine, which he can afford. But poor old Pence, as VP, this makes him the next big fish in line after Big Orange, and potentially, the main fall guy. Especially if Big Orange and his team kept Pence too far out of the loop, making it impossible for him to offer adequate evidence to Mueller's investigation to save his own a$$. The rest of those involved in the collusion and associated crimes are small fries. They will be the bread and butter convictions for the prosecutors, and are doomed regardless of their help to the prosecutions’ case.

I hear Don Jr's excuse is "anyone would have done it". Remember when Republicans went after Clinton for lying about a BJ and then it turned out all the Republicans who were going after him also all had mistresses? This is sort of the reverse of that. Now a Republican has been caught lying about something and now their defense is that anyone would have done it? And now they're going to go digging up dirt on other Democrats who have had meeting with Russia? Or if Hillary took one dime from Russia, that's supposedly the same thing? But I do suspect nothing will come of this. It would have impeached any other president but Trump can shoot someone on 5th ave and not lose one vote.

Actually, Don Jr. said hindsight is 2020 and had he had to do it over again he would do it differently. Really Don Jr? Well voters feel the same way. See you in 2020.

i stopped reading here.

Calling McCain a "devoted republican" just made your op and this thread, a completely pathetic joke.

That asshole has made a career out of playing the "maverick" and getting good press.

You would think that the way the media turned on him, when he ran for Presidency would have soured him on that game, but i guess, he doesn't mind the way they fucked him.

Assuming your accusation is correct, which it isn't, why should the Republicans view it any differently than Obama viewed it?

.
The conservatives’ denial of facts is well known, and their memory of history is typically faulty.
Could you quote these "facts" that they are denying?

Or are you simply full of shit again?

Methinks it is the latter.

We can start with "Cutting taxes create jobs" - it didn't work for Reagan or W. The CBO has said tax cuts don't create jobs, but Republicans are prepared to do it again.

Then there's "Deficits don't matter". This only applies when Republicans are in power, because growth created by tax cuts will cover them. When Democrats are in power, Republicans are appalled by out of control deficits, which are much lower than the Republican deficits which didn't matter. Republicans see no issues with this disconnect from reality.

Then there's "ISIS was created by Obama's foreign policy". ISIS was formed in 2005 from remnants of Saddam's Republican Guard and an offshoot of Al Qaeda so radical that AQ disavowed them.

I could go on and on but conservstives will never acknowledge their own lies.

What did Donald Jr lie about? I'm still mystified by that accusation.

Well for starters, that he released the emails in an effort to be transparent. He released them because the NYT had copies and was about to publish them.

Also that meeting with someone he believed to be a lawyer in the employ of Putin's Kremlin to obtain information from a foreign government who wanted help his father get elected is a "nothing burger", because the lawyer wasn't connected to the Kremlin. Junior doesn't seem to understand the legal implications of "intent".

This is all way beyond the conservatives' ability to understand.

Yep, I suppose conservatives try to change the meanings of words and outright ban the use of other words in addition to all that. Owait...no they don't.

And we remember history, especially when it comes to how Marxism/communism/socialism works out every time.

Yes we have to keep the Marxist Republicans out of power. Especially the socialists like Ronald Reagan. He an Che Guevera were great pals back in the day.

We know you are and expect you to continue to be mystified. Now shut the fuck up and let the adults talk.

To be sure, Donald Jr. lied outright when the New York Times contacted him about the meeting

If Don Jr changed his story twice, 2 of the times he must have been lying.

But on Sunday, Trump Jr. admitted that Veselnitskaya had offered him dirt on Clinton, but that her statements were “vague, ambiguous and made no sense” and that it “became clear that she had no meaningful information.”

Trump Jr. also defended his decision to go after the negative info in a tweet posted Monday.

“Obviously I’m the first person on a campaign to ever take a meeting to hear info about an opponent… went nowhere but had to listen,” he sarcastically tweeted.

Also Monday, Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway told “Good Morning America” that “no information was received that was meaningful or helpful” during Trump Jr.’s meeting.

“There’s no evidence of collusion” between Team Trump and Russia in the campaign, Conway added.

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos fired back that Trump Jr. was clearly expecting to get damaging information.

“Isn’t that at minimum an attempt at collusion?” Stephanopoulos asked.

“Are you saying there’s evidence of collusion because everybody is trying to convert wishful thinking into hard evidence and haven’t been able to do that,” Conway replied.

Stephanopoulos also asked her about her previous statements that there were no meetings between Trump associates and the Russians.

“Why did the administration allow those denials to stand for so many months?” he asked.

“Some of the disclosure forms have been amended since that time to reflect other meetings,” including the meeting Trump Jr., Kushner and Manafort had with Veselnitskaya, she said.

Conway also went on CNN to repeat her denials that collusion had taken place.

“Don Jr. has very explicitly stated he didn’t even know the name of the person with whom he was meeting,” she said. “He agreed to the meeting based on a contact from the Miss Universe Pageant.”

“They get into the meeting and it quickly turns into a pretext for Russian adoption, according to his statements, that the comments this woman is making about any type of information on Hillary Clinton were vague. They were meaningless.”

But host Chris Cuomo pointed out that despite his denials, “He changed his story twice. You talked about being in a court of law — not good when you change your story,” Cuomo said.

How did the NY Times have copies of his personal emails?

What "information" did Trump Jr. receive?

Intent to what??? :dunno:

Conservatives here will be triggered on this thread as they always are when their dear leader is exposed as a criminal and liar.

McCain remembers the fall of Nixon very well. He and many other Republicans old enough are now having the worst case of deja vu ever. Soon the pressure on Republicans will reach critical mass and they'll be forced to get rid of Trump. And as noted Pence will also face his own problems. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Us liberals fear that there is a new normal today than in the past. In other words what Don Jr. did and what the entire Trump team did would have sunk any other administration, but maybe not them. Similar to how Trump said he grabs women's pussies and he still got elected. No one else but him could have got away with that. This is a unique situation where Republicans want a Republican in the white house so bad they'll allow just about anything.

Wrong, turd, HIllary did far worse, and the media didn't even report it. What Trump Jr did was entirely legal and normal during political campaigns. Hillary received derogatory information about Trump from hundreds of sources. How is that any different?

If the media didn't report how are you alone privy to this news?

By the "media" I mean the fake news "destroy Trump at any cost" media.
