"Token".

You do realize that pretty much provides an example of the point, right?

γ. "CHICAGO (Reuters) - Predominantly African-American neighborhoods in Chicago have seen poverty rise and services diminish...
Let's see how Democrat policies are related to, and advance, racism...

Is the decline in many of our cities a function of (perhaps) well-intentioned gov't policies or of the rapid loss of manual labor jobs caused by our increasingly high-tech workplace? Manual labor jobs didn't require much in the way of education or innate intelligence (not that some didn't have it).

When the iceman lost his job (thanks to refrigeration) there were still plenty of other low-skill jobs to be had. Today there is no market for those squeezed out by progress.

I can see what you are saying but I've often wondered if our cities are failing because of decades of Dem leadership or if they have "enjoyed" decades of Dem leadership because they are failing.

I have a specific point in mind, as per the title of the thread....and don't wish to give my view, a detailed one, at this time.

But...Democrat minimum wage laws are largely at the root of the problem.
  1. While legislative bodies have the power to order wage increases, they have not as of yet found a way to order commensurate increases in worker productivity that make the worker’s output worth the higher wage.
  2. Further, while Congress can legislate the wage at which labor transactions occur, it cannot require that the transaction actually be made, and the worker hired. ....walter e. williams

Yeah, I was hoping to respond to your expanded POV but you've yet to post it.

I understand the prob with federal min wage laws but it affects only a few % of American workers ... certainly not enough to have destroyed our cities (it wasn't the min wage that brought Detroit down). Most of us are paid more commensurate with our skills and productivity. I have often posited here that min wage laws should be a state or local matter ... not federal. That way if a firm didn't appreciate the laws they could (and would) move to a friendlier biz clime. As currently constructed, that move is too often to another country.

4. A while ago, economist Walter E. Williams, who is black, gave a lecture in South Africa...

"Under apartheid, intermarriage between blacks, coloureds and Indians on the one hand and whites was prohibited. There was the Group Areas Act, which determined where different races could live. In addition to many other racially discriminatory laws, there were job reservation laws that determined who could hold what jobs by race.

My lecture sought to produce the argument that in free market settings, one is apt to observe less racial discrimination because it is costly to both the discriminated and the discriminator." http://townhall.com/columnists/walt...tm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&newsletterad=

5. Williams explains why apartheid laws, and Democrat Jim Crow laws, were necessary:

"If white people would not intermarry or if white mine owners would not hire blacks to run mine elevators and other machinery, why in the world would a law banning them from doing so be necessary? The answer is that whenever there is a law on the books, one's immediate suspicion should be that the law is there because not everyone would behave according to the law's specifications. In other words, some people would intermarry and some mine owners would hire blacks in those reserved jobs."
Ibid.

And those Jim Crow laws were almost always of Democrat inception.

....the free market minimizes racism, and that Democrats are, in fact the ones who inoculate society with exactly that....racism.

1. Jim Crow Laws:

"It shall be unlawful for a negro and white person to play together or in company with each other at any game of pool or billiards."

"All marriages between a white person and a negro, or between a white person and a person of negro descent to the fourth generation inclusive, are hereby forever prohibited."

"No colored barber shall serve as a barber to white women or girls."

"Separate free schools shall be established for the education of children of African descent; and it shall be unlawful for any colored child to attend any white school, or any white child to attend a colored school."
http://townhall.com/columnists/walt...tm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&newsletterad=

2. As is regularly pointed out on this board, the Jim Crow laws were due to the power of Democrats in control of government.
Democrat: the party of slavery, segregation, second class citizenship....and over regulation of private industry.

Those two aspects of Democrat policy are linked...as I will show.

a. Now....an example of what changed, and largely ended institutional racism.....Republicans:

In 1966- Republican Spiro Agnew ran against Democrat segregationists George Mahoney for governor of Maryland. Agnew enacted some of the first laws in the nation against race discrimination in public housing. “Agnew signed the state's first open-housing laws and succeeded in getting the repeal of an anti-miscegenation law.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiro_Agnew#Governor_of_Maryland

b. Sadly, continued power of Democrats has resulted in this:

"... in today’s recovery — the slowest in the modern era going back to 1947 — private capital investment has lagged badly. ... so has the jobs situation, with 92 million dropping out of the workforce altogether. A labor-participation rate of 62.8% and an employment-to-population rate of 58% are historic lows indicative of the anemic jobs recovery. That was conservatism at its finest.

We all know the history of how the Dixiecrats hopped over to the republican party as a result of – in opposition to - desegregation. Kinda like what your party's going through right now in response to the first half black guy in the white house. Some of you just flipped over to batshitcrazy; you being chief among them.

"We all know the history of how the Dixiecrats hopped over to the republican party..."

A lie.

Right, well good luck with that.

Some of the Left's lies are so transparent that it is hard to imagine any but the most committed simpletons believing them...and we have one in that post.

Like this: "Well...yeah, everyone knows that early Democrats were the party of slavers...but then...around the 1960s the two parties flip-flopped their positions on slavery, segregation and black people....and it is the Republicans who decided to become the racists!!!
Yup.....that's it!"

(I left out all the 'duh's' that would be appropriate for said dialogue.)

Since their acolytes cannot deny that that the inception of the Republican Party was motivated by a hatred of slavery and segregation, while the Democrats were the party of Jim Crow laws and the KKK, they claim that circa 1960, while the Democrats suddenly had an epiphany, and saw the error of their ways.....the Republicans suddenly developed a hatred of blacks and a desire for segregation.

Yes....many of the dimwits actually claim that.

Hard to imagine that they believe it...but they claim it.

The pretense is eminently simple to disprove.

Ask a Leftist, Democrat supporter what the chances are that, after a lifetime of believing as he does, arguing DNC talking points, reading the NYTimes, and watching MSNBC, being indoctrinated...er, 'taught' in government schools, and watching Comedy Central for his news.....

.....what he thinks the chances would be that he woke up tomorrow praising George Bush's election and presidency, and voting Republican.

And that calculation represents the same chance that Republicans and conservatives suddenly decided to become racists.

You're wasting your time, they are part of the indoctrination from the party. But I do admire your perseverance

I love it when the indoctrinated lecture those who won't go along with the indoctrination.

... and they always like to find a token to express their own categorization of human beings for them

You really need to get past I take you serious in anyway shape or form, hippie
The why do you constantly respond to his posts, cottage cheese thighs?

Same reason I do to you occasionally, to kick your dentures in. Now the topic is dems and racism, it would be nice if you addressed the topic for once instead of following me around like a deranged ankle snapping poodle hurling middle school insults, old timer

Phony topic and everyone knows it but the frothy mouthed fringers.

Racism is american, dem and rep. But please do go on with your "outreach" efforts, I'm sure you girls are reaching a lot of minority voters.

It is correct and proper to point out that the Democrats of the Jim Crow era were status quo hugging Conservative leftovers of the antebellum South! And there's no way of getting around that fact, unless one wants to keep shifting the narrative through lies and distortions of history and truth!

That's right, Democrats ran the racists out of the party and they have since made their home with the Republicans who ran Southern Strategy campaign to attract them.

Some Republicans gave up on winning the African American vote, looking the other way or trying to benefit politically from racial polarization. I am here today as the Republican chairman to tell you we were wrong.

Right, well good luck with that.

So stipulated.

Sooo.....what is being proven?
The consubstantial basis of Democrat policy vis-a-vis restrictions on free enterprise, and support of racism.

Watch:

6. In America, the dominant party, the Democrats, are largely if not entirely, responsible for both regulations that restrict business and entrepreneurship....

a. "Generally speaking, the Republican Party is considered more business friendly and favors a more limited role of government in terms of regulating the economy.

Democrats are said to rely more heavily on government intervention to influence the economy's direction and keep the profit motive of businesses more at bay.
Higher regulation comes with increased costs, which Democrats can support through higher taxation. As a result, the party is also described as "tax and spend,"..."
Investopedia What are the main differences between the Republican and Democratic approaches to regulating the economy?

...and Jim Crow laws.

b. Liberal historian Eric Foner writes that the Klan was “…a military force serving the interests of the Democratic Party…” Foner, “Reconstruction: America’s Unfinished Revolution, 1863-1877,” p. 425

c. "The night riders move through the darkness, whit against the black road....they go about their business, their horsed draped, guns and bullwhips banging dully against saddles.
....this is the South Carolina of the 1870s, not of the turn of a new millennium, and the night riders are the terror of these times. they roam upcountry, visiting their version of justice on poor blacks and the Republicans that support them, refusing to bow to the requirements of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments."
From the novel "The White Road," by John Connolly

Again:
Conservatives, Republicans... stand for individualism, free markets, and limited constitutional government....and liberty.

Modern Liberals, Democrats.....collectivism, restrictions on free enterprise, ...and racism.

It's always hilarious to me when Republicans, who are 90% white and mostly southern accuse Democrats, a coalition party of being racist. They assume that minorities are somehow being "led" around by, by, well, by someone. The reality is that minorities in the Democratic party have their own leaders who negotiate within the Democrat party to create a platform. Republicans don't vote their best interests or the interests of their own party. They vote white. We see it now with orange. Kind of an off white.

As compared to the hot air from you Liberals, I post facts.
Case in point, Democrats harvest the black vote....without which they'd never win a national election.

But....outside of making a particular word starting with 'n' a no-no.....they have done nothing for blacks.....in fact....they regularly push 'em to the back of the bus.

Watch:
While talking a great game, it is well known by all except liberals in general, and the Black community specifically, that the Democrat Party claims to be concerned with support of blacks, their record with respect to black politicians tells a different story…

1. In 2005, the Democrats did not name Donna Brazile to head the Democratic National Committee. They chose Howard Dean.

2. “Gov. David A. Paterson, black, of NY, defiantly vowed to run for election next year despite the White House‘s urging that he withdraw from the New York governor’s race.”
Obama Asks Paterson to Quit New York Governor’s Race

3. President Barack Obama kept mum on the fate of Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) for days -- but he tells CBS News that it's time for the embattled 80-year-old former Ways and Means Chairman to end his career "with dignity."
"I think Charlie Rangel served a very long time and served-- his constituents very well. But these-- allegations are very troubling," Obama told Harry Smith in an interview to be aired on the "Early Show." and first broadcast on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0710/Obama_Time_for_Rangel_to_end_career_with_dignity.html

4 Harold Ford, black, told not to run for Senator from New York:
“From the start, Mr. Ford’s potential candidacy angered national Democratic Party leaders by disrupting plans for what was planned as a seamless Gillibrand nomination. Harry Reid of Nevada, the Senate majority leader, called Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to discourage him from supporting Mr. Ford, and Senator Charles E. Schumer of New York met personally with Mr. Ford to argue against his candidacy.” http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/02/nyregion/02ford.html

5. “As state comptroller, [Carl] McCall earned the distinction of being the first African American ever elected to a statewide office in New York. Four years later voters overwhelmingly supported McCall over Republican Bruce Blakeman 64.75 to 32.1%. McCall's reelection in 1998 may have given him the confidence he needed in order to pursue the governor's mansion….The McCall campaign had the support of the Democratic Party; whether or not McCall had the party's full support has been the subject of much debate….Still one wonders just how committed the party was to McCall's campaign….shunned by some of the state's most respected Democrats…McCall blamed his money woes on the national Democratic Party, claiming that the party had abandoned his campaign….” http://www.thefreelibrary.com/H.+Ca...sson+to+all+black+high-profile...-a0221086342

6. And, most telling, Bill Clinton’s remarks about the black candidate for the presidency:
“[A]s Hillary bungled Caroline, Bill’s handling of Ted was even worse. The day after Iowa, he phoned Kennedy and pressed for an endorsement, making the case for his wife. But Bill then went on, belittling Obama in a manner that deeply offended Kennedy. Recounting the conversation later to a friend, Teddy fumed that Clinton had said, A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.”

Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) were asked by security officers to leave an event in downtown Washington on Thursday after they tried to display large campaign signs just as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was about to speak. .. Waters told The Hill afterward that the staffers had been displaying the signs at the annual legislative conference for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, which was held at the Washington convention center a few blocks away. “It ain’t about Nancy. It’s about black people,” Waters said. http://thehill.com/homenews/house/119331-aides-working-for-maxine-waters-asked-to-leave-pelosi-event

8. And what Governor of Arkansas made the Saturday before Easter "Confederate Flag Day"?
The Arkansas Code, Section 1-5-107. Confederate Flag Day.
(a) The Saturday immediately preceding Easter Sunday of each year is designated as "Confederate Flag Day" in this state.
No person, firm, or corporation shall display any Confederate flag or replica thereof in connection with any advertisement of any commercial enterprise, or in any manner for any purpose except to honor the Confederate States of America.
Any person, firm, or corporation violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined not less than one hundred dollars ($100) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000).

Mark R. Levin on Trent Lott & Moral Outrage on National Review Online

9. Do Democrats in Congress support blacks by practicing affirmative action in their hiring…and of course this would be our of moral convictions, as they are legally exempt from affirmative action requirements. More than passing interesting, the ‘National Journal,’ a survey of congressional staffers revealed that Democrats hired black employees at the same rate as Republicans: 2 percent. “The Racial Breakdown of Congressional Staffs,” National Journal, June 21, 2005
Schweitzer, “Do As I Say,” p. 9

10. Clinton pushed black candidate to drop out of Florida race:
“Bill Clinton sought to persuade Rep. Kendrick Meek to drop out of the race for Senate during a trip to Florida last week — and nearly succeeded…Clinton did not dangle a job in front of Meek, who gave up a safe House seat to run for the Senate, but instead made the case that the move would advance the congressman’s future prospects, said a third Democrat familiar with the conversations. Clinton campaigned with Meek in Florida on Oct. 19 and 20, and thought he had won Meek over. But as the week wore on, Meek lost his enthusiasm for the arrangement, spurred in part, a third Democratic source said, by his wife’s belief that he could still win the race. Clinton spoke with Meek again at week’s end, three Democrats said, and again Meek said he would drop out.”

By some strange coincidence, the Democrats, again, force a black to the back:
11. “Under an arrangement reached two days ago, Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the current majority leader, would get the No. 2 job of minority whip come January. Clyburn, now majority whip, would hold the post of assistant leader, newly created for the purpose of heading off a contest for the whip position.” http://www.businessweek.com/news/20...dership-as-clyburn-settles-for-no-3-post.html

And, in light of the action of Democrats/Liberals, as shown above....this is beyond ironic:
Remember Mark Lloyd, who was chosen by President Obama as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)'s Chief Diversity Officer, a.k.a. the Diversity Czar?

"This... there's nothing more difficult than this. Because we have really, truly good white people in important positions. And the fact of the matter is that there are a limited number of those positions. And unless we are conscious of the need to have more people of color, gays, other people in those positions we will not change the problem.
We're in a position where you have to say who is going to step down so someone else can have power." Read more: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/seton-...e-forced-step-down-so-someone-0#ixzz15Z2qdYNz

But....these good Democrats......don't.

Let's see you match this, hot-air boy!

1. Jim Crow Laws:

"It shall be unlawful for a negro and white person to play together or in company with each other at any game of pool or billiards."

"All marriages between a white person and a negro, or between a white person and a person of negro descent to the fourth generation inclusive, are hereby forever prohibited."

A labor-participation rate of 62.8% and an employment-to-population rate of 58% are historic lows indicative of the anemic jobs recovery. β. (CNSNews.com) The unemployment rate for black Americans is more than double that of white Americans, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).... In the numbers released today, covering the month of June, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for black Americans age 16 and over was 10.7%, reported the BLS. The unemployment rate for white Americans in the same age group and time-frame was 5.3%, said the BLS. Black Unemployment 10.7%, More Than Double White Unemployment 5.3%

γ. "CHICAGO (Reuters) - Predominantly African-American neighborhoods in Chicago have seen poverty rise and services diminish even as the nation's third largest city has become less racially segregated,.... black areas are seeing economic stagnation or decline,.... mostly black areas have lost health clinics, social service agencies and other areas of support..." Exclusive: Poverty up, services diminished in Chicago's black neighborhoods - study

Let's see how Democrat policies are related to, and advance, racism.

Coming right up.....
It is correct and proper to point out that the Democrats of the Jim Crow era were status quo hugging Conservative leftovers of the antebellum South! And there's no way of getting around that fact, unless one wants to keep shifting the narrative through lies and distortions of history and truth!

"....the Democrats of the Jim Crow era were status quo hugging Conservative leftovers...."

Now watch me obliterate this fool.

It's always been about Democrats, free markets, and racism.....

3. While Democrat/Liberal strangle hold on the media and the 'education' industry have been nearly 100% successful in shifting the argument to 'no...it was CONSERVATIVE Democrats that were the bad ones!!!"....the truth is the Democrats then were the same as the Democrats now.

Simple enough to find racist statements by Bill Clinton.
Challenge me on that.

a. On the other hand, from the inception of this once great nation, classical liberals, the Founders....the views that today are identified as conservatives, have been based on individualism, free markets, and limited constitutional government....

...Democrats live by doctrines that center on totally opposite dicta:

.... the collective, command and control regulation of private industry, and overarching government that can order every aspect of the private citizen's life....right down to control of his thoughts and speech.

And certainly not on free markets and capitalism.

b. Even government school dunces who have been trained to endorse Democrat fabrications will see through this lie:

"OBAMA: ‘THERE’S LITTLE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMMUNISM AND CAPITALISM"
Obama: ‘There’s Little Difference Between Communism and Capitalism’

Democrat policy, anti-capitalism, anti-free markets is supposedly anti-racist, as well.

Economist Walter E. Williams writes that the free market minimizes racism, and that Democrats are, in fact the ones who inoculate society with exactly that....racism.

Next.
Oh horseshit Cynthia/Chica! Conservatism is a social philosophy not a damn political party. Political parties differentiate themselves, one from the other, by embracing different facets of social philosophies, and sure as Hell are not the Party itself. They are two different animals in spite of your continual efforts to conflate the two for your propaganda purposes!

The Republican party in its early period started out influenced by the abolitionist movement and the Constitutional institution of slavery is proof that the fledging political party was challenging the status quo of the conservatives to maintain the status quo of slavery then!! Are you going to rewrite that history again too?

The early Republican party fought the status quo, Cynthia/Chica. They became what they are now after the 1950's in their social philosophy as strict conservatives to maintain the status quo as they saw/see fit! And folks like you belly up to the bar and willingly drink the shit sundaes you're served without questioning a damn thing because;
