I know of one man who works at the local AFB. He is 29, white, gay, an engineer and a hard core Rethug. His pay will be cut 20%. But he lives at home and has more than enough money. He does not care about the sequester. He just looks at it as a little more time to do other things.

Nice to live at home and make 85k a year. To bad not everyone will have it so easy.

Hey lets say it is ALL Obama's idea. If I remember right, there was a rather lenghty negoiation going on. And going no where. So lets say Obama told Boner that his idea would be to make a proposal so onerous that even the RETHUGS wouldn't want to see it go through.

So he tried to devise a plan that would be so painful that even rethugs would want to avoid having the plan implemented.

What was wrong with that idea. I have seen it used before in other situations. And it worked.

How was Obama to know that Bohner and CO. were so fuking stupid and pig headed and so full of hatred for both Obama and the middle class, that they would embrace the sequester. want it to happen. Be glad that it is happening.

How was Obama to know that rethugs are this fuking stupid? He (Obama) was trying to fix a problem. Thinking the rehtugs would help at some time.

This was the only way you'd ever get real cuts in the defense budget, a section of the budget that has to be on the table along with entitlements if you ever want to actually pay of the debt, never mind closing the deficit.

I'm not happy things happened this way, but they pretty much have. If Obama was unwilling to even contemplate this, he should have never put it on the table as an incentive to negotiate.

BTW....did you know that the GOP actually have passed bills, two of them, that are solid alternatives to the sequester, but that the Democrats rejected it?

BTW.....it is getting old that every little thing that the GOP blocks the democrats from doing is just a way to destroy the middle class. That assumes that the democrats are out to help the middle class and that the middle class actually needs help from the government.

How about cutting spending, getting the fuck out of the way of business and letting the middle class thrive without the government's help.

When you say "Do A or B will happen" you have to be willing to follow through on "B". I think Obama's bellyaching leading up to this made him look weaker and the GOP gambled he'd blink. Now we're here.

A 2% cut, most of which is a cut in future growth of spending, so not really a cut at all, is going to be catastrophic? You people get your marching orders from your talking heads and trot right out there with them without missing a beat.
