Ah yes, the bullshit line that programs which provide assistance to poor people are "free shit", and that black people are so stupid and gullible that they vote for "free shit" to keep them poor rather than for Republicans who will give them jobs and let them work their way out of poverty.

Why is it important to give money to rich people to help the economy, and to starve poor people into desperation? Every other first world country provides universal health care, free job retraining, free or low cost university education to poor people, and a liveable pension to retirees. Only in the USA in the social safety net insufficient for families to live on.

Right wing Americans believe poor and/or unemployed people must be kept hungry and desperate or they won't work. Plus they have no health insurance. No wonder you have an epidemic of mental health problems, violence, and crime.

The rest of the first world provides unemployment insurance, free retraining, child tax benefits, and other income supports to help people get back into the work force, and a more reasonable level of minimum wages. We don't make the situation WORSE for poor people so they're forced to take 2 or three jobs just to keep a roof over their heads. Or take to crime to supplement their incomes.

You know, white people like free stuff as well. The point I was making is when you offer free stuff, people vote for you. Me? I am a true conservative. Never applied for unemployment nor did I ever apply for welfare. Despite spending a summer living under a boardwalk.
I believe free stuff gets votes but gives reason for people to not try harder to support themselves.

Good example....I was a recruiter and I also owned a temp agency. I called an applicant and offered her a temp position for 20 an hour for a minimum of 6 months and an opportunity to go full time. Her response? When all is said and done, I get more being unemployed than I do working. She actually asked me to do the math. She was correct. She had welfare, unemployment and 10 bucks an hour watching her sisters child. All tax free. Why would she want to take a job?

I never said they are stupid or lazy. To the contrary, they are smart and willing to make as much as they can. But that is how the system keeps them living off the government.

To ignore that fact is naive.
